A testament to Maven's awesome CS... I used a 1000 and a 200 gift card. The remaining total was 11 cents. I think their system won't run a card for that much and it wouldn't work online or over the phone. So they just said don't worry about the 11 cents and put the order in.

That is awesome.

How do you like that CrossTac mat?

I like it ok. I also bought the midway deluxe mat at the same time. The crosstac is much bigger stored but faster to use. I am so tall I dont use the stupid bipod rail as the bipod is off the mat.

I'm not @Reburn, and I don't have that particular mat, but I do have the CrossTac Recon and like it for its minimalism ...

The one I have is very much a truck / range mat. It fold up into quarters but iis still very large. The padding is nice when I lay on concrete though.

For those waiting on the bundles - just heard from Maven that they're working on having more in stock in time for the 31st budle discount. They're just waiting on more Aadmount caps ... again!

[EDIT: Per Maven just now - "We are seeing the RS1.2 move pretty quickly and are not expecting our next run out of production until late January. If you don't want to wait, you might also check out our Amazon store. We are doing 15% off there on the scope only until the end of December."]

How are you guys liking the scope caps vs the butler creek caps?

They are much much nicer. Every butler creek cap I’ve had restricted the objective to some degree. These are not noticeable when looking through the scope.

I just put them in last night. The objective cap requires more force than I'd like to open. Maybe it will loosen up?

The ocular cap covers up the focus adjustment ring. I haven't decided if I think that's a bug or a feature.

If it matters the Aadmount caps are a bit bulkier overall than the Butler Creek. Hinges are bigger, opening tabs are bigger and the housings thicker. The hard plastic can be noisier when flipping open. You definitely don’t want to flip them open when close range on a jittery whitetail without guiding them open with your hand.

Mine never did. Still the same as when first installed.

On my LRHSi’s they seem to clamp on the adjustment ring and will twist if not careful. They will also pull off if not careful on those scopes. I ditched them on those and just went to a neoprene cover.

Butler Creek have well-known failures.

Aadmount are up there with Tenebraex. Aardmount are a harder plastic, louder in use, but solid. Tenebraex feel like pliable Tupperware of old, and are quieter. My guess is it's a personal preference between these two - but there's features I like about each, and features I don't, so I'm not yet falling either way and use both.

I've had one Aadmount occular not want to lock properly, and one Tenebraex split at the install point, so neither are perfect.

It seems like most of the noise is from the objective cover opening with a lot of force and clanging on the scope. Might be as easy as a stick on pad at that contact point - maybe one of the little stick on pads for chair feet stuck to the outside of the cover?

I've always just used neoprene covers in the past, and may go that route eventually.

The latch mechanism on the Aadmount can be noisy as well.

So it comes down to terrain and distance: if expecting snap/close shots, caps open. If long shots where noise not so much of an issue, or in trecherous terrain where the occular could get jammed down into scree or snow, caps closed. Or just go like Form, run no caps, and let the scope show the wear! :)

My close in shot scenario is mainly blacktails in SEAK. Pretty much guaranteed to be bushwhacking through wet brush, so I need some kind of cover. I suppose it's easy to take them off and just use the neoprene cover for that.

Any chance someone could tell me what the mounting distance is on this scope as well as how long the eyepiece/power selector is?

Thanks
Mounting distance info. There are confirmations to this later on in the thread.
