Getting ready for my elk/mule deer trip to Montana this week and I’m considering using portioned out mass or weight gainer protein powder as my breakfast meal.
In the past, I would pack two freeze dried meals a day along with various snacks, and then a tortilla and cured meat for lunch.
I’m considering replacing one of the freeze dried meals (breakfast) with weight gain powder.
On paper it seems like a good idea. Relatively light weight, calorically dense, etc. Also, I have taking valuable time in the morning to boil water and down a full mountain house meal. A shaker bottle and “drinking” breakfast seems much more efficient.
Any thoughts? My only concerns are A) making sure I can effectively clean/rinse out my shaker bottle in cold water so it doesn’t get funky B) that the meal will sustain me instead of just giving me a quick sugar rush and C) A liquid meal won’t give me liquid poo.
Anyone else try this? Thoughts?
