Not necessarily looking for software so forgive me if this is the wrong place. What are some good resources for planning a hunt? I’ve been looking at CPW maps for elk migration patterns and ranges and BLM maps to see what sections of land are public or not, but is there anywhere I can see private property boundaries? Or even more specific GMU boundaries? There’s a general map but that’s not going to help me if I’m right on the edge of one and don’t know where it specifically ends etc. Colorado btw. Thanks!

I once had a custom map made at a surveying supply shop. It was a composite of USGS topos, BLM land use coverage (BLM, USFS, NP ect), and GMU boundary and was printed on waterproof paper. Probably cost $50 for one GMU and that was 20 years ago.

After that, I got a set of DVDs with statewide USGS maps, so I can plot location-specific tiled maps of my own.

Now I just keep a USFS map and a compass in the pack if I'm going miles, but most map work is done with Basemap.com
