MAP - Public Lands for Sale in US Senate Bill

But it really isn’t all eligible, not all of that land meets requirements.

Bills are always passed to be modified later!! Much harder to pass than to modify once passed!!

I’m always amazed at how many people trust language in bills from politicians

The same once’s that steal everything.

WAKE UP

Companies aren’t just based where their HQ is located lasted I checked, if they own the land they have an interest in the state and pay state taxes.
My response was based on your positing that in state corporations and residents are the only beneficiaries of public lands. I demonstrated how wrong you are. The companies I mentioned are international and based in Houston Texas, and benefit the entire planet through their energy production. So the state of Colorado should be the one to deal with that?

Well yes this alone won’t make a dent, same could be said about every individual thing within this bill or any reconciliation bill ever.

That is not what is said. You argued that if this does not pass, we will all experience a tax increase. I asked how you can justify revenue cuts while expressing that we need to sell public land due to concerns with the national debt.

Let’s round down and say it’s 1.5 million. How does selling this benefit the vast majority of Americans?
I don't think that's going to make the point you want. The vast majority of Americans have no use for undeveloped public land. Development, on the other hand, is a huge economic boost.

Like all them malls turned out to be today? Just concrete jungles half shut down, while we now look for new areas to bulldoze vs repurpose

It’s always an economic “boost” yet our debt climbs? Hmm

Seems like the boost are just ways the govt hands our tax dollars to business. Like covid

Govt gave ppl “stimulus” checks while not allowing them to work. Therefore they orders shit off Amazon with their check. End result, govt handed big business money and just used people as the launderers

Who’s benefiting from the development and this huge economic boost? It’s not you and me, it’s a limited number of developers, the incredibly wealthy, hedge funds, etc.

If you want to see what life is like with almost no public lands go look at England, France, etc.

Aside from tax cuts and offloading of some lands, government involvement with development is a bad recipe, but to answer your question, yes, those "concrete jungles" getting demolished and repurposed, that is huge for the economy.

Government debt and money printing is bad, but the economy runs on loans within the private sector, and your continued existence, every good and service you rely on is only made possible because land was developed.

It most certainly is you and me. The computer or phone you are using to write these comments, your home, the food you're eating today, the store you buy your hunting gear from. . . all made possible because of land development.

Except they rarely get repurposed, I think you misread what I said.

They just abandoned while we bulldoze more habitat

Kind of how we need to clear land for solar when there’s roofs everywhere

My mistake, but I agree with you on that. Depending on location, City leadership and the ridiculous idea that gentrification is bad is what is responsible for this problem.

You do realize undeveloped land is finite? And while the US and world previously had an abundance of undeveloped land, we no longer do?

Has anyone considered that this was a ruse to get support to have the 20 million illegals that were welcomed with open arms by the Biden administration deported? That would immediately solve our housing crisis.

Given that Lee has been trying to pass something along these lines for a decade now, I don’t think this was a poison pill play. My gut says he thought he could sneak it in the BBB and get it passed because of the recent momentum for Trump.

I think that's the case. I hate the way our system works where everybody adds their pork and BS to various bills because they're important and know they'll pass.

Govt bills are like mortgage backed securities in the early 2000s

Pile a ton of shit in one big giant package with a few good things so the brain dead will cheer it on and pass it. It’s done by design and should not be allowed. All things NEED to be separate so ppl get a chance to see what’s what’s and decide

It’s amazing how little our leaders think of us when we provide them a lazy lavish life with full benefits and pension after just a few years. They get more than anything we can get yet we pay for it and they laugh in our faces. These people hardly do 1 hour of work a day

This has never been about what is best for the common person. It’s not about “affordable housing” or reducing the deficit. This bill they are all about to vote for will increase the deficit by something like four trillion dollars. The idea that selling land will even that out is absurd. They’re all the same. These people only care about staying in power so they can push their own personal agendas. They’re going to carefully curate a narrative that fits the flavor of the day, trying to say the right thing to convince us all that this a good idea. In the end it’s about doing what they’ve always wanted to do and enriching themselves and other select few at the expense of all of us. It’s long past time that they are held accountable
