First: sad about the dog.

Second: damn! Wow, that is something. Can’t believe how the cat endured that for as long as it did.

Third: No saving that cape for a mount, although I’d keep it.

Cats have lost their shit lately it seems! A guy here in New Mexico killed two stalking him in a ground blind hunting elk on a tank!

One kept coming at him while he yelled at it!

You would think that cat would have baled after the first machete blow!

Don’t know that I could have sat and video taped would have been inclined to help in some way.

thats what I was saying to myself throughout that video. That guy in the truck is just trying to get a video, sad that he didn’t jump out immediately and yell/run at the cat before it took down the old dog.

Right? I'm consistently amazed at the shit people can video without stepping into help. If your natural reaction is to film rather than to act, you have a problem.

Man, watching that again makes me mad. If I had been the guy in the truck that cat would've either had 4" of pocket knife in his ear or missing the back of his head from a pistol before the guy had a chance to get there with the machete.

I wonder what his reaction would've been if the cat had grabbed a kid?

Hopefully better than it was with the dog.
I agree I wouldn't be making a video. In California that's the only way I would be able to get away with killing a cat.

If that guy has a daughter, I pray her boyfriend is walking a straight line. Bummer for the dog, by the way the dog was flopping I figured it wasn’t gonna end well.

At the least i would have been honking the horn but more likely using the bumper of the pick up before the cat would have got there. I was thinking the same thing the glock would have killed that lion before it had a chance.

Crazy video. Good job man, sorry dog :(

The guy in the video commented:

"The guy in the truck warned me that there was a cat on the road so I ran back to my campsite and grabbed my machete and I’m no hero the golden lab is the true hero and he gave his life to give me time to get back to my campsite and get my machete he was an older dog that knew that we were under attack and he retreated but he got caught he’s the true hero"

amazing hat the Cougar would not let go of that dog even with the chops from the Machete, Looked like it had got smacked free once and that Cat just snatched the dog right back up. Bet the Old Guy was Related to lizzy bordon

I thought about that, too. You always hear that you should fight in a predator attack (other than a grizzly) because cats have little experience with animals who fight back with any real ability to inflict harm. Seemed to have no effect here.

Seems like the other dog should have had an instinctual propensity to jump in there and try to do something. Dogs are usually pretty clear on what is play and what is aggression, particularly aggression to kill. I’ve seen Labrador who was an inside dog instinctually kill a coyote with zero hesitation and with amazing efficiency.
