I know that macro tracking is important... I've struggled to make it a habit.

What tracking app is the best/easiest?
Are there any good free ones?

They're all pretty much the same
I generally recommend people start with one of the free apps like My Fitness Pal
Food scales are critical for tracking if you really want to get a handle on it.
Good Journey!

If you are struggling a bit, just commit to doing it for 1 week. It'll change how you look at food/nutrition for the rest of your life, even if you never track again.

Having used many for years, the best is currently Macrofactor. If you cant swing the price, then Myfitnesspal or chronometer are good alternatives.

I love MyFitnessPal. After a few weeks of consistency you’ll learn portion control and how to hit protein goals and start to rely on the food scale less.
Good luck!

I used levels, though largely because I could pair it with a glucose monitor and not just see macros but also how it impacted blood glucose.

It was an interesting exercise for 6 months or so but in the end my conclusion was if I eat pretty much nothing but meat and veggies my macros work out fine and blood glucose looks great. If I eat much of anything else it does not. After a fairly short time in was not about learning anymore and more just an accountability thing, decided it was more cost than I wanted to pay for just accountability so I wrapped up the whole exercise.

I've been using My Fitness Pal for 4 years. The free version. I'll sometimes go a month or two without using it, but tracking everything I eat is the only way I've found to keep my weight from creeping up.

My fitness pal. I track my food every single day. You have to pay now to use the bar code feature but I dont. The free version works just fine. And I eat a lot of the same food so a lot of copy paste makes things easy

Another vote for MyFitnessPal… free version works just fine. Definitely recommend a food scale, not only do you know you’re accurate but you also become a lot better at guessing when you don’t have access to it.

Great tip here. Food scale is also a must. I'd totally be eating 1,000 cal worth of almonds at a time and lie to myself to say it was only just an ounce lol
