I stumbled upon the Carbon coaching app last year and have found it to be massively helpful. It's not free, but is only $10 a month, which I felt was very much worth it. Its been huge in helping me change my perception of portion sizes and how much I actually need. It turns out that when you actually eat enought protien, you can drop weight without really feeling like you're operating at a deficit. I haven't dropped a ton of weight, but my body composition has definitely changed. To echo what others have said, food scales are critical in this endeavor.
