The OEM buffer in the Six8 is 3.25 inches long and is marked "H2" but I don't know its weight. I think it may be something like 4.2 oz but I am not sure. My Six8 short strokes with this OEM buffer. I replaced it with the buffer from my S&W M&P Sport lll and my Six8 no longer short strokes. But, I think the S&W buffer is a 3 oz one. I suspect that is too light to protect the action of the Six8.

I have ordered a carbine buffer that weights 3.8 oz and is marketed as H1. Am I on the right track?

Just checked Mine is h2 don’t know weight scale is busted sorry

Is yours a5 version or heavy barrel?

I checked and the barrel is marked "heavy." I just finished cleaning the buffer tube itself. I just used a dry shotgun mop on a cleaning rod. The tube looked quite clean both before and after I used the mop, although the mop showed some carbon on it after I used it, but not much at all. I put the OEM H2 buffer back in the spring and reassembled the lower. I then cleaned the piston assembly with a tiny bit of Hoppes and dried it off thoroughly. I did not lubricate the piston assembly. I reassembled the rifle. Tomorrow I plan on picking up an H1 buffer that is 3.8 ounces. I will shoot the now cleaned rifle with the OEM buffer and then swap in the 3.8 oz buffer if the rifle is still short stroking. By the way, I did shoot the rifle again today with the 3.0 oz buffer installed. 110 grain factory 6.8 SPC. The rifle shot reliably but I still think the 3.0 oz buffer is not right for the gun.
