Baseline function, suppressors need to be the correct distance from the muzzle internally, and they need to be straight and tight. That’s really it. A good gunsmith/machinist will do it correctly.

To answer the why-

Shoulders and adaptors with shoulders are used to limit how deep the suppressor screws on, gives it a solid stop point, and in the case of CGS’s Sig taper- it keeps it tight and acts like an initial sacrificial baffle when used with heavy, high firing rates, I.E.- full auto. There’s more to it, but functionally that’s it. If your muzzle threading or muzzle device is done correctly, almost none of the potential issues apply.

As far as “manufacturers recommendations”- does any rifle manufacture recommend that you use an aftermarket barrel on their rifles? Do they recommend that you use an aftermarket trigger spring or trigger? Or aftermarket stock? Or bolt knob, or bolt shroud? Manufactures recommend their products because they have to deal with idiots doing really dumb stuff and then blaming the manufacturer.
