I'm due for a new pair of boots, my Crispi's have served their last days on the hill and have been relegated to the plains. I have an older pair of very high mileage Lowa Tibets (sole shot, Gore-Tex leaks, etc.) that I bought used and I really dig the fit and stiff sole. That said, I'm very interested in the Cevedales at Lathrop and Sons - I've read everything here I can find and my buddy has a pair that he really likes though it took some doing to break them in.

These will be used for straight backpacking on occasion, any sheep or goat hunts I'm lucky enough to go on as well as 2nd season elk in the Flattops. Do I stick with the Tibets assuming the new model fits and performs for me as well as the older version or try out the Cevedale? My feet are low volume and relatively narrow (wide C).

Just switched to the clevedales after running the Tibets for a decade. Fit is similar, I would say the clevedales are a tad longer in the toe. I got the green ones on sale from Amazon for around $300 (I'm thinking the brightness will fade as I put miles and apply treatment on them).

My Cevedale Pro's fit like a wide in other Lowa's I've had. Others I know complain about them being too narrow. Go figure. Toe box was tall though. Other than leaking like a screen door after a month they were great. I returned them the REI but have yet to find anything better. Will probably get another pair this spring.

I was going to make a thread about my cevedale issues but I'll tag in here..

I got a pair of the blue cevedale pros and they felt great on my narrow low volume feet right off the bat. I took them hunting without break in, proceeded to walk 3 miles and 1600' up through some pretty rugged stuff and doubled on bulls with my hunting partner right away. It took us 2.5 days to pack them out. The boots felt great on my heels, soles, and toes but caused increasing pain from the laces across the front of my feet between the top of my foot and ankle going downhill. I tried loosening up on the locking portion and not tightening the next two eyelets at all but there was always very sharp pressure there when coming down hill. To exaggerate it's like the laces were trying to lop my foot off right below my ankles. It may have something to do with the thinner synthetic fabric or maybe I'm doing something wrong with the lacing? Has anyone else experienced this with the cevedales?

To address the OP, I tried on tibets today and they felt more volumous in the forefoot, slightly less stiff sole and more "cush" around the ankle with the full leather compared to cevedales. I also tried on some scarpas and la sportiva and they seem to be the ticket for my narrow feet.
