Probably lots of “let’s build a scope” threads. Let’s start another one. How much money we talking here? $100K? $1mil? A couple models, high X and low X.

Truthfully, the marketing is where it is at.

Look at Vortex - they were a marketing machine with a moderate product. Touting the best warranty in the business. Products cheaper to replace than fix. They put one in the hands of anyone that would get their product and hat in front of a camera.

Leupold still rides on reputation alone. I think it is fading, but a lot of $$ was made from the tradition of grandpa's scope.

Would have to figure out what the makers of durable scopes are doing differently and incorporate that in the spec. LOW makes some very reliable scopes and some very unreliable scopes. Might be better off partnering with a maker that has already figured out how to build a reliable scope to get the guts figured out without burning time and cash, then spec the magnification and reticle.

I think you could just tell them how it would be tested and what is acceptable. They would know how to accomplish that and probably deliver success within the first few samples.

I think you could just tell them you want the swfa scopes but rebranded. Litterly just say I want 1000 Swfa 3-9 HD except put this logo.
They would most likely send you an invoice.

Japanese mite have enough pride to not do it.
Nf buys enough they mite not want to piss them off.
China no way. You can get anything you want.
They just have a min quantity to get your own branding.
Get on alibaba and look.

I don’t think LOW owns any of the designs, well looks like they design according to your specs, anyone have a spare set of NF nxs specs.?

Wouldn’t want to step on someone’s design too hard, you’d likely end up with more in litigation than you could possibly recover. Someone like NF could easily own you. And rightly so.

I agree, ideally a great optics company would come to the table and ask what people want and build it. But they do not. I’ve been listening and reading for years now, and none of them do.

With some companies that use LOW, they don’t seem to have their own R&D capability. Never understood that.

The problem is getting all those people to agree on wanting the same things.

What good does it do you to spend a bunch of money to find out that people want Swarovski glass, Nightforce durability, Vortex warranty and Tasco pricing?

So true. I would be interested to see the costs.

How much time, effort, and $ spent would be needed to better the SWFA 3-9x42?

Exactly. Capped windage (shorter), locking elevation turret (shorter), updated reticle. Those seem to be the major gripes. Not that it isn’t functional as is. Maybe go for broke use a steel tube. Few more oz. I hunt in the dark timber a lot, better be out of it by 1pm this time of year. I have yet to find the need for illuminating reticle but maybe I’m in the minority.

If we can get a reasonable list of features, I’ll make the call to them.
