If I understand how it works there is nothing over any original threads in the form of an adapter so no line on the muzzle end showing 2 pieces. The wall thickness is the entire material between the bore and the outside threads.

That is correct. I’ll also add that the barrel is absolutely rifled to the muzzle.

Kampfield is a great person to work with. I just sent him a bolt to have fluted and I wanted a couple other things done and was not sure about pricing. He did the work and mailed back my parts within a week and mailed back my parts before I even paid for the work. Fast, quality work and the payment thing kind of took me back.

That’d be great and all but he quit taking new orders from new customers since he got so busy after all the publicity. His website has been non-functional for a bit too.

Edit: website back to working but still no new work.

Perhaps this is a dumb question but how much shoulder is typically advised to adequately seat either a suppressor mount or direct thread a can on something like 1/2x28? I see thunderbeast recommends barrel diameter of 0.6" are you all not meeting that or just adding shoulder for extra security?

Barrel is .655
Tbac ultra 7 dt
Shoulder needs to be .725
1.Would you thread barrel 5/8 and make a threaded adapter to thread over that with 5/8x24 outside threads and machine a shoulder and blend to barrel.
2.Thread barrel 9/6 and make a threaded adapter with outside threads 5/8x24 with shoulder.
3.Thread 1/2x28 and do the same as above.

They all seem to get to the same place but with some requiring more work.I have had some gunsmiths say whatever you want and some say they will only do the 1/2x28 route.
My concern is the barrel thickness on the 30cal or is that no concern once the adapter is loctited on.
The final product im after is similar to what Kampfield has done above.

If you're going to use a self timer, thread the barrel 5/8. A self timing brake jam nut doesn't touch the barrel shoulder. If you're using a suppressor, you would want a shoulder roughly the same dia as the mounting nut dia. In that case, I would have the modification shown above.
