Howdy All,

I'm hoping to throw this out there and see what you all think. I'm looking for a better bino pack setup.

Currently, I'm rocking the normal badlands bino pack with a couple of attachments to each side. I have a zip pouch attached on the right where I put my rangefinder and the badlands gps holder on the left where I put my garmin rino. My zip pouch on the right is functional. The gps holder is a joke and not easy to manage with one hand while in the field. Plus I've had my gps fall out a couple of times...thankfully on ground where I heard the thud! In addition to my binos, gps and rangefinder, I also carry my wind indicator and small wind meter with me. That way I've always got all my necessary gear on my person.

What I'd love to have is a bino pack that had closed pockets on both the left and right side to fit a range finder and garmin rino respectively. Keeping them out of the elements and operable with one hand would be the preference. I'd also love the straps that attach the the binos to be longer that what the badlands allows. Sometimes the bungee strings are annoying.

I've seen a lot of bino pack reviews on here, and I just haven't seen the set-up I'm describing. If it exists, or if you have a cleaver gear modification, I'm all ears!

Thanks,

Alaska Guide creations makes the best bino pack IMO. Tons of storage and crazy durable. Several really good reviews on here about them.

FHF gear makes a bomber setup as well, their GPS pouch and Rino pouch are super tough as well, and he sells tethers for them also, no more losing stuff

An Alaska Guide Creation is what I've been using and would definitely recommend. Has all the options you mentioned and several different sizes.

Alaska Guides Creations. If you need a full out safety pack plus bino protection, go with the denali. I carry EL's 42s, fire starter, safety bivy, sat phone, gps, headlamp in it with room to spare. If I'm riding I can even slip a pocket .380 in it. A lot of weight on my chest but their harness is pretty impressive.

If it's just for strictly bino protection and carry, go with the cub. Jaret, the owner is a damn good guy.

Used an FHF with a rhino on one side and range finder on the other for over a year. Now use an AGC and I won't be going back.

The AGC stuff is top quality for sure. I got the Kodiak CUB w/ MAX pocket and it is very nice. I found myself wanting a "chest pack/harness that I could also carry binos in" instead of a more dedicated bino harness so I sold my AGC to a Rokslider and bought a Hill People Gear Original Kit Bag. 10x42 Vortex binos fit in their vertically and it has pockets for other gear as well.

Keep in mind with the AGC your rangefinder would likely be in the pocket on the front of the pack and your GPS would be in the elastic keepers on the top. For reference, the elastic would hold my Garmin GPS or my iphone 5S securely and with no issues.

If you look at the AGC and like the features and they fit your needs, I don't think you can go wrong. There's a reason so many folks like them.

AGC looks very nice. Couple concerns:

My everyday binocs are Zeiss 10 x 32...is the AGC Cub oversized for them?

I couldn't find a picture of the AGC harness shown...is it included?

Is a tether included or purchased separately?

Harness and tether to binos come included now. I have pics of mine in another thread (use search). I got mine with the max pocket and my rangefinder can fit in the bottom as well as the front pocket.

Kevin, I run 8x32 El's in my AGC Cub, its perfect holds then nice and secure but also works with my other 42 or 50mm binos.

I really like the CUB plus I added an FHF gear rangefinder pouch, I prefer this set up over the classic agc.

Appreciate! I don't own a rangefinder, and I tend to be a real minimalist for having stuff on my chest area. I really just want the simplest protective binoc cover/retainer possible, and I want minimal presence. No radio, light, rangefinder, firestarter, cellphone, shot glass or nose-hair trimmer for me. :D I actually don't even really like binocs on my chest but nothing better exists when wearing a pack.

Amen brother.

Also binos on the chest seems to result in the least movement when treestand hunting and keeps me from climbing down after I drop them.

On the FHF, can you attach the GPS and Rangefinder pouches directly to the bino case itself? I'd rather not have them hanging down from the straps.

The Rangefinder/GPS cases buddy up to the FHF very well. It's hard to describe, they ride on the straps but don't "hang from them," per se. When you're wearing all the pieces it's all very secure about your body, but it still moves with you.
