I would hope so. 19 an hour in 1974 is about the equivalent to 120 an hour today.
Minimum wage in Idaho back then was $2.10 an hour. I had a job as a security guard with ADT back then, while I was going to college. From the inflation calculator I found, $19 an hour now is about equivalent to $3 an hour back in 1974, and housing is thrown in as well. Would have gladly taken a year or two off of school to live and work in Lowman. By the way, all that land that Micron is built on? You could have bought as much of it as you wanted in 1974 for under $20 an acre =)

Want an outdoor job in Idaho? Housing provided?? Have a class A CDL? Somewhat OK pay, sign on bonus, yearly retention bonus, yearly step increases, lots of comp time....hunt pretty much all you want? State job, great benefits??
I'm looking for a transportation technician to join our team in Lowman, Idaho. Great area and its a highway maintenance job/career with the Idaho Transportation Department. Plowing snow in the winter and during the summer we fix all the shit we broke in the winter. Kind of a unique opportunity with lots of equipment use, working with our avalanche team and you would be working for a really cool foreman.😉.
Housing is provided (manufactured home), it's a great place to live especially if you like the to work and live in the outdoors. I'll put the link up for the job posting. PM me if you are interested and have questions.

Randy

Always thought it would be fun to work for ITD and plow highways.

Having knowledge of working at local highway district i know how hard it is for ITD to fill its positions, hopefully one day they'll get a good pay raise.

Would be a beautiful and fun area to work. Honestly, for someone who might have a interest in road construction/maintenance for a career, this would be a good opportunity to get your feet wet, or move on to a better career.

Would I do it? No. But if I was young and single hell yes.

If you take out people's mail boxes, or destroy garbage cans, do you get in trouble though? If not, damn that's tempting. It's really enjoyable teaching folks the fun way to keep their garbage cans out of the right of the way of the road. And boy, do those cans fly when hit at about 30mph with a wing.
