Suggestions on lightweight rain gear. Any suggestions help. Looking for a jacket and pants.

KUIU Chugach if you can find them used or the Chugach TR. I’ve put mine through a lot and they are still going, but they are expensive.

Very happy with the M5 stuff from SG. I keep the pants and jacket in a stuff sack, not sure on total weight but light enough to not bother me while still being tough enough to bust brush with.

Thank you ! I’ll check it out !

I’ll give the kuiu a look. Do they have solids in their rain gear ?

Kuiu if you want to spend $500. If that’s too much $$$, try the Marmot Precip jacket/pants. I use the Marmot and love it. I wanted the Chugach but just couldn’t justify it living in AZ where it rains but not like AK or other places.

Where are you planning on using the rain gear? How active will you be while wearing the rain gear? What will you be doing while wearing the rain gear.

You can get by with lightweight while sitting in a light rain. You cannot get by wearing lightweight in a monsoon busting brush.

I will offer some thoughts. There is lightweight and there is lightweight.

my Beefiest rain gear is 3 layer gortex from Sitka. Heavy and $$$. I set of dewpoints. They are heavy enough to take some brush Busting.

my lightest set is OR helium. They are great insurance in your pack but wouldn’t live up to a lot of hard use. Super light. Not too expensive. Very packable. Great just in case gear but not what I would take if I was expecting more than a bit of rain.

Well most of the use will be in the west. Hunting and hiking. Also would like something that I could use in Alaska.

I have the OR a look. Seems like an insurance policy for the most part !

I’m a little different. For light rain gear. This won’t wet out. Does decent w/brush but isn’t a 3layer WB.

Men’s OutDry™ Ex Reign Jacket

Regular price: $150

For heavy duty I grab a pro shell type WB. Which for me usually means late season so SG M7

Have the OR Helium light Enuf and with the pits u don’t get soaked from sweat. Use primarily in south Florida rainy season, 90 degrees and 125% humidity😒

For light rain I use my Patagonia Houdini and wax from the knees down on my hunting pants (Fjallraven).

For heavy or continuous rain nothing beats Swazi Tahr and Swazi Overpants.

For long trip multi day hunt with no break in the rain there isn’t anything lightweight that will keep you dry if you want to stay out and hunt in the elements (not laid up under a shelter). Grundens bibs and rain jacket.
