Light weight fixed blade knife

I bought a cabelas Alaskan mini alpha for skinning and like it a lot. Very light and holds a great edge...a little pricy though

I have the buck packlite and its just okay.

The best I have found, and have been using the last two years, is a pair of victorinox 3.25" parering knives. One in serrated, one plain. They are extremely sharp with a few licks from a $4 pocket sharperner and are perfect for breaking down game. They just plain work at like $7 each. Made a sheath out thin disposble cutting board material from the dollar store. Much lighter than the packlite too. I dont use any of my expensive knives anymore in the field.

About a year ago Kuiu came out with a few fixed bladed knives that were very light ( and expensive). I don't know if they are still selling them or if Jason could put you in contact with the company the was actually making them for him.

Hey Rocky, they are Kestrel knives. I think kuiu did a limited number with them. There was a thread about it recently at kuiu.com
