Hello all, Merry Christmas ! I hope everyone is spending time with family. Instead of buying myself something for Christmas I want to Become a life member for either Mule deer foundation or Muley Fanatic Foundation. Im a annual member of both as well a Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Anyway just trying to give to the one that has the most impact on helping conserve the land, deer etc... Which one do you think ?

North American pronghorn foundation is trying to make a go of it. That’s not what you asked, but that’s my vote. Idk about either mule deer foundation

tbh first time hearing of Muley Fanatic.

For me, MDF is a no brainer.

I volunteer and donate quite a bit to MDF as I personally have enjoyed the fruits of my donations and know my money actually goes directly to purchasing land, conserving habitat, or enabling access via landowner partnerships. The guys around my neck of the woods seem a lot more interested in direct habitat enrichment and access vs other orgs that I have spent time around.

I’m a MFF Lifer, but can’t go wrong with either, both seem like good orgs. Went with MFF because I liked the perks more and it was during COVID, so wanted to help out the smaller org at the time

I was pretty disappointed with mule deer foundation after senator Mike Lee's land Bill. They were absolutely silent in regards to a bill that was Taylor made to destroy mule deer winter range.
I don't know where you live but their lack of activity in Idaho has also been disappointing to me. In 2024 there was well over 300,000 acres of fire in Idaho wiping out winter range and high country alike. I saw no effort from MDF to restore any of that habitat. In that same year they had multiple projects in Wyoming who experienced around 1/3 the devastating fires.
I'm not anti MDF I just haven't been overly impressed recently. Especially in my home state which largely feels forgotten.

MDF does a lot in the Bennett Hills, the rest of SW Idaho doesn’t exist it seems like. They have also done quite a bit regarding cheatgrass in the salmon area

I haven’t looked into it, but what’s the benefit of becoming a lifetime member? Is it just the support/donation aspect

Thank you for the awareness, I will be emailing my regional director. IMO MDF seems to be much more effective at a local level. They just don't have the numbers and $ to carry much weight politics wise.

I’ve noticed here the only projects they do are on private land. I quit donating at that point.
