Recently I’ve been shooting my BLR in .30-06 and it’s really brought me back to enjoying shooting. It feels fresh, open, and more than anything… ME! It fits my style of shooting and what I want out of a firearm.

It’s just struck me that life is truly too short to follow the crowd (if that’s your thing, go ahead). I have a Tikka with UM rings and all that, but there’s, in my opinion, no soul to it. It’s just a tool and gives me no real joy.

This will not resonate with everyone, but yeah… Like what you like and have fun with that.

Now that the sleek and efficient guns are easily attainable, I think we are going to see A TON more wood stocks in the woods in the next few years.

100% agreed. I have a carbon fiber chassis gun with a long range scope bipod blah blah and it’s served its purpose and it brings the meat home.

BUT do I have a shit eating grin on my face the entire hunt like I do if I’m carrying my model 89 spike driver or my Jackal44? Hell no. I love to hunt with these guns.

I hunt with the aforementioned gun when filling the tag means more to me than enjoying the hunt in every way possible.

Those Jackal44s are incredible
