They and the Mark 4 variants are probably the best overall field spotters on the market.

Had two of the 12-40x60mm gold rings. The first was the non HD. Thought it wasn’t great above 30X to my eye.

The second was the HD version and it was better.

Sold it after comparing it side by side with a Swaro ATM 20-60x65mm HD. I could not count rings on a bighorn at 500 yds with the Gold Ring HD. Easily counted them with the Swaro which I ordered the following week and still own 13 yrs later.

That said the Leupold was decent as far as compactness, had great eye relief if you wore eye glasses. It was a decent medium price optic that only cost me less than half of the Swaro. It was useable to full 40X unless conditions didn’t allow it.
