So, I'm talking real singleshots. Not feeding a bolt action one round at a time. High walls, number 1's, Thompson contenders, etc. Anyone hunting with one? How bout accuracy? Longest kill on a game animal? And let's see some photos........!

I've got 2 T/C Encores. One is a 50 cal muzzle loader and the other is a 308 pistol. Only killed whitetails with the muzzle loader with 100 yards being about the farthest shot. The 308 has killed whitetails, a mule deer doe, and antelope buck with the farthest being about 200 yards on the antelope.

My favorite gun of all times was my TC Encore Pro Hunter changed in 30/06 w/thumbhole stock and topped with a Burris Short Mag 4.5-14 scope. It had a factory 28" fluted ss barrel that I consistently shot sub MOA with, and when I did my part 1/2 MOA. The rifle recoiled like a 243 blue to the flextec stock and libsavor recoil pad. I took an antelope with it at 376, but I regularly shot 500 at the range. My Burris scope was the guns biggest limitation. I still cry at night because I got rid of that gun. With any luck I will have another by this time next. Right now I am leaning towards a MGM 6.5-284 barrel.

I have a few. The one I hunt with most is a encore in 375 h&h with 20 inch barrel that is really lightweight and handy. I hunt really close range because of where I live. I lost a bear this year. I have been watching him for months. Had a great shot....but before I could reload he was gone. So, I am either going to finish my 6.5 hipster light weight bolt gun build, or full time hand gun hunt. Either way, I'm going back to a repeater of some sort. I can't stomach losing another critter.....upsets me.

Have long lusted for a Ruger #1.

An old timer that hunted the same family friends' farm we do has a Browning 1885 in .30-06. What an awesome rifle. The best part is he traded the rifle for an antique table that he bought at a rummage sale for less than $10.

K95 Blaser in 8x57IRS...more accurate than me.

As for long shots I usually try to get as close as I can so it hasn't taken anything past about 200 yet, it's a accounted for a couple of dozen animals since last year and will be a fixture in my hunting future.

I might get a 7x65R or 6.5x65R tube for it as a 'LR' option for Tahr and some mountain hunts....still, I would be sub 400 with it, although K95's will always deliver sub MOA on just about any diet.

Absolute joy to carry and use....very nice to fly with as it breaks down into a small package that fits in a duffel.

Mostly a long range gong-whomper, but I've hunted it a few times. Uberti copy of a Winchester 1885 with a long range Seoul tang sight in .45-70. I shoot heavy cast only through it. 510gn over a moderate load of Win5476. I'm only getting 1100fps, but I don't have to worry about the super-trans-subsonic destabilization. Long time of flight, but superbly accurate at 800yds & it'll knock a deer off it's feet!

I have had a Blaser K95 in 6,5x57R for close to three years now. Absolutely love the rifle! Use it for our reindeer, also brought it along on a roedeerhunt in Scotland this spring. Accounted for game out to 230 so far. I wouldn't mind stretch it out to about 300-350 if conditions are right.

It is the most accurate gun I have, a breeze to carry, and really like the kipplauf concept when travelling with the gun!

A few pictures the from the recent trip to Scotland. Game was taken largely alone, while stalking a forestry property in the Border district. 7 bucks and one Fox in 8 days of hunting. (2 bucks taken with the guide) Will probably not copy that feat anytime soon.. The K95 was perfect for the task, with a Zeiss 3-12x56 on top.

I purchased it from a German fellow who imported it from his home country...I believe it is an older model. I can't help with whether it was standard issue at the time of purchase or not.

[6mm Remington]

I have two Ruger #1B single-shots. One is a 30-06 which has a fixed 4x Leupold on it and the second is in a 6mm Remington. It wears a 6x Leupold. Both were easy to load for and shoot very well. I'm having some trouble posting pictures off of photobucket for some reason,
but if I'm able to do so I will post some pictures and photo's of groups. If I do my part the 30-06 will shoot less than half inch groups at 100 yards with 165 gr. Partitions and Accobonds. The 6mm Remington will do about the same loaded with 100 gr. Nosler Partitions.

I've taken lots of antelope, coyotes, deer, and one spike bull elk with the 6mm Remington. The longest shot with it was a coyote standing out there at better than 500 yards. The 30-06 killed a really nice antelope buck with one shot at 500 yards.

My favorite rifle of all time (that I have actually shot) was my father's Ruger #1 B in 30-06. Beautiful wood on that rifle and the gun just reaked class. He lost it in a divorce, but it was a beautiful piece of art.
I rarely hunt with a firearm anymore but have an encore in both a muzzleloader and a couple rifle barrels. While it is not the same as the M24 I carried it is plenty accurate for any hunting purpose. I shoot the muzzleloader and rifles a few times each year and threaten to take them out hunting but always seem to pick up the bow at the last minute (just like archery too much and the challenge it provides). I do like the practicality of the encore and love the beauty of some of the nicer single shots.
