This is the route I'm going with my T3 300wm. Patiently waiting on on my stock and barrel to arrive to start the build.

Mesa Precision Altitude Stock
Proof pre-fit carbon barrel
Red Snake Bottom Metal
Bolt Fluting

Undecided on which Brake I'll be using.

Have you seen Salmon River Solutions TI Pro brakes? I have several of his rails and they are top notch.

Ya, but you have to dump a ton of money into a Factory Rem 700 action to make it anywhere near a tikka. And I've yet to see one anywhere but gunbroker. And for more than a whole tikka rifle.
I’m looking to build a 7 Mag and it seems the same for a Tikka. Replace bottom metal, new stock, possibly new barrel = Christensen Mesa/ridgeline

I disagree. The argument between a semi-custom Tikka and a full custom rifle has some valid points, but I’m not at all interested in a Christiansen with all the QC and customer service horror stories I’ve heard. They seem like a gamble to me. Best case scenario you end up with a rifle that shoots as well as most Tikkas and costs more. Granted, Tikka/Beretta customer service sucks too, but the up side it that you’re not likely to need it.

I would not compare any of my tikkas to the Mesa I owned. That said If you want to load longer bullets the tikka wouldn’t be my choice in 7 mag. Still wouldn’t give Christensen arms anymore money.

View attachment 265414More stock than custom, I’d say, but it’s a 6.5 cut to 18.5”. Can is a SiCo Omega 300 using the Area 419 mounting system. Vertical grip should be here this week, too. I also have a 30-06 being cut right now that’ll end up being an exact clone of this.

I was *this* close to picking up an XLR chassis this year but have postponed those plans considering I’m paying for a wedding in a few months.

There are some sweet rattle can jobs on this thread that I’m envious about, but don’t trust myself!

What thread pattern? I have the super lite and a can in jail. I am considering the area 419 setup but thunderbeast says no go on their website and needs a min 9/16.

1/2x28 on both rifles and both use the Area 419 System

Thanks. This is what I wanted to do and posted before on my cooper 92 and was going to thread my tikka the same. TBAC is not very supportive and their 1/2 QD system only allows for 223 cal. but area 419 seems legit. I just don’t want to do something unsafe. I also don’t want to have to get a different barrel when the stick barrel shoots great.

What was your experience with Christensen?

Fair point, I’ve just looked up QC issues with Christensen!
I know people with them that love them but I guess they got lucky.

I picked up a Tikka 300 win mag for my 6.8 Western build. Also ordered the barrel for it today. Looking at these specs what bottom metal and mags would you recommend for the build. I haven’t decided on the stock for it yet.
I’m thinking the 300 magazine would be way to long to work properly and the 6.8 is a hair linger than the the 270 WSM or the 6.5 PRC.

Thank you

Any wsm mag should do the trick. Or go to a AICS style.

The 300 mag works just fine in the 6.5 PRC. Its a little long but leaves plenty of room for long high BC hand loads.

I make sure when I load my mag I push all the rounds to the back. Ive never had an issue either way though.

7 Sherman max. Hawkins rings carbon six barrel Mesa stock. Scope not pictured is a bushnell lrt 4-18 with the g2 reticle. Started barrel break in and I’m pretty sure I’m in love.
