It’s the Game Hunter. Wait was about 3 months but it was about 2 years ago. I’m a huge fan of Carbon Six. I like that they will still cater to people and make 9mm, or .45 blanks for the folks in the east who hunt straight wall cartridge states like myself.
Awesome man. Thanks a great looking stock/build. Ill give Mcmillan a call and see what the wait is. there are so many options this can get overwhelming

May be coming into possession of a T3X in .30-06 here pretty soon- plan would be new stock, spot bed the action and Mcarbo trigger kit. What kind of semi reasonably priced composite stock would you buy again?

What’s reasonable to you? All the top brands are about the same cost wise.

I recently inherited an unfired M695 stainless 270 win in the black composite. Never owned a Tikka before and would like to spruce it up, but doesn't see to be many upgrade options for a M695. I found out that Wayne York (Pendleton stocks) will make a custom stock for an M695. I live nearby and have seen several his stocks, which are nice. It looks like a fairly hefty barrel with a .635 crown and straight shank and was thinking about fluting it to cut some weight. The gun is 7.6 lbs right now.

Anyone else upgrade an M695? How is the trigger? Any options for bottom metal for these? I am assuming the bottom metal is different than the T3 or T3X.

What was the weight of your game Hunter stock? im seeing around 2.5 lbs but wasnt sure. Also, whats your set up coming in at total weight? im trying to stay under 10lbs and was curious what yours is.

I can’t remember exact weight on the stock but it was well under 40oz. Total weight on both builds including scope and rings (but not suppressor) was right around 7lbs 10 ounces

Long thread so not sure if this has been answered/brought up. Just picked up a CarbonSix barrel on sale for my 300wsm Tikka. It’s the 1.2” shank diameter. Am I going to have any issues with that instead of the smaller Tikka action? Anything I need to be sure and tell the smith chambering it?

There's some discussion on this starting on page 67.

As long as your stock is inlet for the larger shank you will have no problem. Iv got 2 tikkas with 1.2” shanked barrels on them currently.

Can anyone recommend rings for a SHV 5-20x56mm with the factory lite barrel? The scope is pretty big so id like to have it mounted as low as possible.

Thanks

Take a look at the Raptor Mount, medium height, from Mountain Tactical. You can get it in zero MOA or 20 MOA. I recently put one of their Raptor Mounts on one of my Tikka's and I'll be using another one another Tikka I have.

The Raptor Mount is a one piece mount and is very solid. It's very similar to the NF Unimount and one of the Near Mfg. mounts except for a Tikka.

I have this same rifle, purchased brand new in 2000 at a cost of $399, (That was before Beretta got involved with importing Tikka, which happened around 2001 or so....and then the price jumped up to ~$550?) Anyhow, it's great! I've kept it stock, been very happy. At the time, there were not many 'upgrades' available on the M695 series, although that may have changed with time. Obviously, there are plenty of upgrades available for the T3x. Enjoy!

I had an M695 in 7RM. It was a fine rifle. I believe the magnum magazines are slightly longer than that of the T3x...and very very hard to find a spare mag for in the long action.

Awesome! thats what I am looking for. Trying to keep my build under 10lbs scoped and with suppressor. I'll have to make some changes with my optic and rings but it seems really doable

Think i’ll have enough room with 56mm and medium?

Thanks
