It’s so deadly you probably shouldn’t look directly at this photo for too long.

700 action circa 1991. McMillan KS Edge stock circa 2010ish, TT trigger, Brux #3 spiral flute. 6.75 pounds sans scope. .280ai with a 1:8 twist.

Unpainted and unapologetic about the way it looks. It’s too busy killing chit to get prettied up.

Dave
Pretty sure I'd come out of stock painting retirement to give that thing at least a little class...

While not nearly as impressive as some of the other guns in this thread. I recently refurbished my first gun gifted to me by my dad. Started as a youth model adl .243 and swapped over boyds thumbhole stock, triggertech primary, and burris fullfield e1.

Manners EH2 AICS DBM inlet.
Timney Calvin Elite

Sorry, I have to know. How bad is pelt damage with the 243 ai? Seems like it would blow a fox in half, but seeing as you have one in the pic I figured I'd ask.

Pelt damage is not tooooo bad as the Hornady 105HPBT is a fairly stout bullet, I launch them at 3150fps and that critter caught it at about 50 yards...

My 280 AI is very similar but it has a 22” Benchmark KS contour. Oh, and I guess it has been painted. 😀

This is my Idaho rifle, or at least all the work was done there -- bolt fluting and extractor by Karl Feldkamp, cerakote/paint by @Unknown Munitions, and everything else by Chris Brown of Long Range Customs.

This was my first build where I did all the barrel work.

Stainless 700
HS precision (found in a corner at lgs for $75!)
Magpul dbm (I cnc’d the stock)
21” 6mm Dasher on a green mountain blank with a barrel nut I made
105 amax at 2925 fps with varget or rl-15
SWFA 10x in talley’s

Ended up with close to 1k amax’s because they were a good deal, had to build something to shoot them out of.

Target pic is 5 @ 100, I can keep 30 @ 1 moa out to 250 (as far as my range goes)

Did you have to do a lot of inletting to get that contour to fit the mountain stock?

Yeah, a decent amount. Really only in the last half of the barrel channel. I think it’s made to push on the barrel with a pad at the end of the channel. I free floated it. Might go back and add some epoxy with something to stiffen it a little. Hasn’t caused any issues but not as stiff as I’d like.
