What made you switch from the Mark 5 to the trijicon
I had been looking to get a smaller/lighter scope for a while. And was pretty set on getting the mk5 3-18.What made you switch from the Mark 5 to the trijicon
How have you been liking this action? I have a barreled action ready in 2-3 months based on a LP Fuzion and I'm hoping I made the right call.Lone peak fuzion
I have had multiple fuzions on competition rifles and hunting. They are my personal favorite. You won’t be disappointed. How have you been liking this action? I have a barreled action ready in 2-3 months based on a LP Fuzion and I'm hoping I made the right call.
Open light is a 12# weight limit isn't it? Most PRS guns are 19# or more. That seems like a big weight difference to account for with only the chassis. My priority would be as an NRL hunter gun but having dual purpose would be nice. Anyone have experience running one gun both?
Element would be your best bet I think. @XLR could probably chime in with his thoughts but you can add a substantial amount of weight to them between the m-lok on the side and internal weights. The butt stock would be the tough choice. The carbon would make it easy to make light class with, but can't add weight to. The c-6 can take a ton of weight but may be too much weight for light class and make your gun butt heavy.I shot the 2024 Snake River NRL hunter with my Seekins Hit 6.5 CM which is also my PRS gun. Had an absolute blast. I was just in skills stage for my first Hunter but definitely interested in doing more. I'd like to compete in the open light which the HIT can't do and so was thinking about building a 6.5cm on a chassis that I could then add weight to in order to be my PRS gun as well.

The element 4 or the HNT26 look like good options, but I don't know how much weight I could add to em.
Whats the weight on that without the can? This will be my first year shooting NRL. I built a 6.5PRC and will be sending factory 147ELDM. I will not be competing, just using it as practice this year. Because of that, I plan on using the same rifle, ammo, optics, and tripod that I actually hunt with. Should be fun!
On just the chassis block you can add 3 lbs to a Remington 700 SA Element. That doesn't include adding weights to the buttstock or changing the buttstock to one of our heavier options. Most guys who shoot open light run the Element 4.0 Magnesium with the Carbon grip and carbon buttstock. This chassis weighs 28-33 oz depending on whether or not you run the folder. That same chassis can weigh 7 lbs with the TR-2 buttstock, mercury recoil reducer, TR-2 Main weights, internal forend weights, and 2 sets of M Lok side weights. I would recommend looking at our weight calculator to see the different weight options you can achieve. The element 4 or the HNT26 look like good options, but I don't know how much weight I could add to em.
I want to say right at 8.3 lbs, give or take an ounce or two? I haven't weighed it without can and i'm not sure what the can weighs off the top of my head!Whats the weight on that without the can?
This is pretty much exactly what I’m looking for as a set up. I have a Curtis Valor currently in a W3 with a heavy Palma barrel and a MK5. I’ve been thinking about selling the W3 for a XLR magnesium and getting a different barrel spun up. I’d like the idea of one chassis then loading up weight on it for PRS matches and this chassis seems to fit the bill. Excuse my ignorance but the #4 barrel is a varmint contour? What brand is it? The goal would be a sub 12lb NRL hunter / elk rifle and a 18+ lb PRS rig.I ran open light this year with an Impact action, XLR magnesium 4.0, 24.25” #4 contour barrel, Burris XTR Pro, and a double pull light ckye pod and was at 11.81lbs running 140 eldms at 2810. Also shot a teams match and just swapped out the barrel to a MTU and was under 16lbs.
The chassis works great for hunting and NRL to make light weight has just a little flex when you really flex it is the only thing I've found about them. I have 3 magnesium and an aluminum one now so I like them! Yeah you can definitely add weights to the outside and the inside. I add them to the inside to keep it stream lined. This is pretty much exactly what I’m looking for as a set up. I have a Curtis Valor currently in a W3 with a heavy Palma barrel and a MK5. A #4 sporter contour – 1.200″ – 3″ straight shank, tapering to .685″ at 26
I’ve been looking around and for $550 I can get a grayboe trekker which is about the same weight as the xlr magnesium. With that contour of barrel do you see your groups opening up after an NRL hunter course of fire? Also, did you have to do anything special when adding the muzzle break since the barrel is pretty thin?
How about a 6.5 PRC? I don’t have experience with that round but would the it’d fit the bill for elk and NRL hunterIf a barrel cant handle 4-8 rounds of 6.5 creed over the course of a couple minutes that is pretty piss poor.
