Needing some ideas on what direction to go for shooting NRL hunter matches next year.

I could do open heavy pretty easy with some rifles I have.

Looking for another hunting rifle right now and that could work for production class with the ones I'm looking at. Thinking savage 110 ultralight in 6.5 Creedmoor and loading 147 eldms right now.

Post weights and bullet and fps combos

Thanks

My rifle was configured like this for the last match I shot, rifle with the CF barrel. I am switching things around and sold it. This is the McMillan Sentry stock.

I just run my hunting rifle with a switch barrel or tune down the loads in my 25 SST. I am going back to a more traditional stock with the vertical grip.

Forgot, I run factory 6.5 creed ammo or my 25 SST with 133 Berger at 3000 fps.

Sako S20 precision 6.5 CM, SWFA 3-15, MtnGear bipod, and TBAC Ultra 5. Pushing 130 Bergers at 2850. Weighs 11.6 lbs without the magazine.

I really want to get one of those Sako's and shoot production next year. And just have it as another hunting rifle.

In on this. Have a CTR in the safe that I had planned to setup for NRL, but I chickened out. Need something to "push me over the edge" and just do it.

You can make weight with a CTR pretty easy. I shot a CTR the previous year. The hunter style matches are great practice for hunting. The time limit adds a stress factor while testing your shooting system on UKD targets.

If I ever have the opportunity, this is what I’ll take. Ruger American in 6.5 Creedmoor around 2500 with factory 147’s.
15# and 13 ounces the way it sits.

Open heavy
Tikka with PBB prefit .900” taperless 24”
Bravo with a brass forend extension and a bunch of lead in the butt to get it to 15lb 14oz
Trijicon tenmile 4.5-30
MDT GRND-pod
6.5cm - 140 eldm @ 2780fps

Practice setting up and shooting off a tripod and rangefinding binos are a huge help.

Do many folks shoot factory or open light, or are most people shooting open/heavy? Interested in setups folks are using for the lighter class as well.

I ran open light this year with an Impact action, XLR magnesium 4.0, 24.25” #4 contour barrel, Burris XTR Pro, and a double pull light ckye pod and was at 11.81lbs running 140 eldms at 2810. Also shot a teams match and just swapped out the barrel to a MTU and was under 16lbs.

I'd like to know what reticle most guys are using?
Are the Christmas tree type reticle better than lets say like the NF Moar?

I’m switching from mil-xt to mil-c. In four years I’ve never used the tree on the xt. It’s not a busy tree but I just don’t need it. I use it in PRS, Hunter and hunting.

The mil-xt is arguably NF most popular reticle.
