Anyone running this tripod for glassing and shooting? I have some bigger and smaller tripods but this one interests me. Looked in to the rrs 22i compact also but just don’t want to spend that much and this one seems comparable. I walk quite a bit for coyote and deer hunting and for sitting to kneeling this one loooks like it might fit the bill. Just not sure how stable it is. Not much info on it.

I’ve only messed with one of my buddies’ briefly in his office and out on a day hunt - it’s a unit of a tripod compared to most 3 and 4 section (obviously). It was quite stout and rapid to setup. It’s long on a pack. For a shooting tripod it seems pretty slick, but I think the acceptability of it for someone’s use is extremely dependent on their preferences. I really like the 2-section inverted leg setup but haven’t bought one personally because I know it would be extremely rare that I’d actually carry it.

Thanks! I don’t think it’s for everything and agree it’s made for only certain situations. I have a two vets that is full size 2 section and not inverted and took that coyote hunting the other day just to try it. It was nice to use but was WAY to tall on my pack. Hard to find too much real world experience.

It looks like it fits what you are looking for! Rated for 55lbs which should be solid for the sitting/kneeling shots! I’ve used much lighter tripods with center columns that have worked for what you are describing.

I have been considering something similar for spring bear hunting. Just need something short and stable to glass/shoot off while sitting down.

You need to order one and do a review for everyone!

I have the 282cx. It is the best tripod I have ever had. Use it all the time for coyote. Perfect for sitting in a chair or standing shots. The inverted legs are game changers. It’s super sturdy and I don’t need any bigger, and the light weight is great for moving set to set.

That said, it is too long to pack. I didn’t even take it on my elk hunt this year. I’ve looked at the short version for next time I go out west.

I use the RRS 22i on all day hunts now.

I’m sure the compact Leo version would be great if not wanting to use at standing height.

I looked at this tripod last year but just couldn’t get over the stowed length. If I can’t put it on the side of my pack that’s a deal breaker. The inverted legs should be way more common. If they made a three section, no center column, inverted legs that was in the sub 24” stowed length, I’d own one tomorrow.

I ran a full sized two vets two leg on the side of my pack a few days ago and it was longggg!!! I wasn’t going through trees or anything and couldn’t if there was. That is 40” stowed! Haha

I recently went through tripod analysis paralysis again, like with riflescopes it seems like there is always disconnect between what is being made and what i want. That inverted leg 282 peaked my interest but the short is to short and the long is to long to pack.

I ended up buying a leo363 it's nice for shooting but it weighs 5.5lb so it won't be found to far from the truck.

Well apparently I am trying it out. I made an offer on one on eBay for $250 and they took it. Didn’t really expect that….. lol
