Leica APO Televid 82mm vs Kowa 88A 88mm

I have a chance to bid on a Leica mentioned above for a good price if it doesn’t go too high. Should I say screw it and wait to purchase a new Kowa 88 that recently came out?

I tried out all of the top end scopes (Zeiss, Leica, Swaro, Kowa) two weeks ago and I purchased the new Kowa 88. Even if they all were the same cost I would have done the same. To my eye it was definitely the best glass and clearest picture. I fell in love with it pretty quickly. The fine focus is so superior to the other barrel focus systems too. Let me know if you have any other questions. Like I said this was only two weeks ago so it’s still petty fresh.

Good list, identical to mine although I prefer angled scopes. I went into it with my heart set on the Swaro ATX but after looking through all of them I had to go with the Kowa.

I have a Kowa TSN 883 since 2009 and use it most of the time with the 30x wide eye piece, my brother a Leica Apo Televid 77 with 32x wide ep. Comparing them side by side? Yes, the Kowa is brighter, a bit sharper, wider fieldof view etc. But looking through the Leica still is a pleasure! And I understand that he doesn't need a new scope.
So, if you can use the Leica stay happy with it then use it untill you can compare (or never compare and you will stay happy). If money isn't an issue or you just want the best: buy the Kowa.

I have the TSN 553 and have looked through it at the moon. I sold my razor spotter and obviously the FOV is narrow the glass is superior. I plan on using it for bear in Idaho. The 88 won’t be used till next year when I get back up to AK.
