Berger Elite hunter

No shit! But when you're hunting with excited kids stuff happens. Like I said, for me, as a meat eater, I'll stick to a more controlled expansion bullet. I shoot some Bergers on elk and mule deer, but I won't use them on small deer like Blacktail, Coues or antelope. I've just had too many bad experiences. My daughter killed her first elk with a 175 Elite Hunter from my 280 AI. Worked great. The angle caught the shoulder on the exit but elk are so big it didn't mess it all up or bloodshot it too bad.

175elites are now my go to in the rem mag. We shoot a high volume of animals so big trauma and smashed shoulders are a good thing.

I shoot the Berger 140 elite hunters out of my 6.5-06 Ackley Improved ~3075 fps and have excellent results on game from antelope to elk close range shots and long range shots. By far my favorite hunting bullet.

Distance: 350 yards
Retained Bullet Weight: 74gr, 47%
Point of Impact: High, left shoulder
Exit: None. Bullet fragments found against the far side hide. Bullet traveled at a downwards angle from the high left shoulder to the center of the stomach between the rib cage (the greenish spot in the pictures of his stomach below), obliterating the heart.
