Its been awesome reading all of the success stories from the forum for the season so far. Myself, I have Archery Elk Hunted in my unit 13 days of the season now and have seen a substantial amount of elk I could have harvested with a rifle, but the oak brush and locust are so think in my unit I cant seem to get a shot with my bow. I did call in a spike last weekend to 12 yards, but my unit is not legal for spikes and I have a hard time taking that shot even if it was legal, something about it does not feel right. At any rate, I'm reaching out to the forum for a last ditch effort place closer to the metro area I can try next weekend to maybe harvest a cow and feed the family for another year. Normally I would have been willing to go wherever in the state but resources from 13 days hunting and many miles of driving back and forth are running low. I have never been a horn hunter but I buy the either sex tag just in case...........but at this point in the season I have hunted hard (GPS ped counter says I have walked 43.3 miles for the season) and have not gotten my shot yet. I cant head back to my unit this year as its too far and cant commit 3 days necessary to hunt it properly between driving, packing in, etc....
Anyone have any ideas where I might be able to drum up a cow the weekend of the 23rd-24th? Thanks for the consideration everyone!
