Wait.....
Since when does it rain like cats and dogs in Phoenix????
I understand you probably hunt other places that warrant the best rain gear possible.
I just thought it was funny that someone with the name New Mexican that's shops in Phoenix AZ needs the best raingear money can buy.
Just being funny. No bashing intended.
You just made a guy that lives in the Pacific Northwest giggle a little 😜😜😜

I live in south central Alaska. I'm from NM and I've been in Phoenix for the summer helping my mom with some stuff. I'm heading back up in a few days.

I should have known it was something like that. I'm sure you do need the best raingear up there.
And yes, the Yukon fits big, it's designed to be an outer layer.
I wear an XL Yukon over an XL 145, 240 and super down when needed.
It's my only Kuiu piece that's isn't slim fitting.

How is the Yukon sizewise? Does it fit over f ex a guide jacket, in the same size?

Ordering a size L Yukon, will it fit over when having a Peloton Size L, and Down jacket size L under?

I am about 5 10 and weigh 180 with broad shoulders. I went XL. It fits me well with no insulating layers and also over a puffy or fleece insulating layer. The sleeves are a touch long, but I can still shoot my bow without contact issues.

I have large on each and Yukon is a little bigger. My guide is first year of kuiu and Yukon two years ago.

What layering do you have room for?

Can layer base 125 T + 145 LS or chama + insulation jacket synthetic/down without any problems/ no binding. There's some stretch in the Yukon material and it's cut large so if your between/borderline sizes go down in size.

IMO, First Lite Rain gear is superior to KUIU. That goes from Stormtite vs. Chugach and Yukon vs. Seak. In fact I'd put the Sitka offerings in rain gear ahead of KUIU. This all after extended use of all three brands in Ak, BC, Newfoundland and the Yukon.

Can you give us specifics of what you found with each.

my guide jacket in xl fits me well. my yukon in xl feels oversized/sloppy without a couple layers under it.

all FL I've tried has been amply sized ("sloppy"?) but I'd rather have the option to downsize one sz than have to tolerate limited movement like I've found with the kuiu I've tried - sizing accuracy is important but seems like it'd be better to have the option to go smaller if needed

I find that I get wet in KUIU rain gear under extreme conditions. Not the case with First Lite or Sitka. Not a "bash", just my experience. My experience was replicated on a recent grizz hunt to Alaska. My packer and guide were both wet in KUIU rain gear. I was dry in my Sitka Cold Front. I wore the Yukon on a BC Goat hunt. When the jacket "wetted out" I was soaked. Same result for me in Ak on a Sheep hunt with the Chugach. I've had great success with FL and Sitka on similar hunts.

I just wore my SEAK in a pretty harsh rain storm yesterday. It was great until the very last half hour when the rain was coming in sideways. It was wetted out and wet underneath the shell. Im kinda dissapointed.

I had a similar experience to Kotaman's. My Yukon rain gear was bombproof for the first two seasons that I wore it. 5 days into my guide season this year it failed. When I got back to camp water had soaked through both the shell and the pants. I tried retreating them with some Nikwax and it took all of 15 minutes before I was wet again. Kuiu was nice enough to warranty them though.

Hmm.. I have very limited experience with my chugach pants so far but they seem to take longer to wet out than my FL stormtight jacket did when it was new. I'm pretty disappointed in my stormtight jacket, it leaked with minimal use..

I got an arcteryx alpha FL figuring it would be more bombproof (seems to be) but it was too loud to wear while still hunting in rain last weekend in NW MT.

Any problems with your SEAK wetting out and getting wet on the inside?

I am also curious about the SEAK wetting out. I am going to be getting a high end piece of rain gear for my outer shell and am either looking at the SEAK or the Stormfront. I really like the FL gear I have and there is very little information about extended use of the SEAK out there.

How is the fit on the SEAK? I am 6'1 and 215-220 lbs. Everything I own is an XL but I prefer a more athletic cut. Would you recommend an XL in the SEAK or do you think it runs large enough to size down?

I where the Medium (5' 8", 173 lbs) and it runs a little big on me. Usually mediums fit well. I'd bet a Large would fit you well if you like an athletic cut. My brother-in-law is 6' 1", 200 lbs and my Medium actually fit him. He would not have been able to layer a ton underneath but it didn't look exceptionally small on him.
