Are the guides too warm for an active November hunt or do the hip vents help a lot?
I have a pair of EB lined that get too hot and don’t stretch very well just by snow blowing my steep driveway. Not sure my mountain pants will be warm enough so was thinking the attacks might fit in the middle.
Thought timberline but they are quite a bit heavier

You significantly are limited by the use of an article of clothing that is fleece lined. You stated above the use would be for an "ACTIVE November hunt". Absolutely no chance I am buying the "GUIDE pants" or any thing fleece lined "jacket or pant" that would be used on an active hunt. It completely goes against the idea of "layering". Those pants are meant for one thing IMO, and that's stand hunting or glassing. Basically minimal activity.

Go with the Attack or Pro and use layers underneath as needed. The greatest article of hunting clothes that has come out in the last several years are Kuiu's zip off baselayers. Use those as your layering system underneath your Attack or Pro pants and you can take off or add on the baselayers in less than a minute or two. Once I get to where I am going to sit for a while, if weather dictates, I'll break out my Super Down Ultra pants and zip over the outside of my baselayer.

Layers are your friend.

I personally don't think the guides are "too much" for a november hunt but I hate the fit. I much prefer the Talus, Attack, or pro for a mid to late season hunt. Yes, I have or have had all of them. I also love the Kutana but it would need layering for sure as it is really a lighter pant.

The guide pants if the temps warrant it are my go to pant in November and I’m talking 20 degrees and lower and typically snow. The zips allow you to dump heat but if your climbing for hours with gear it best be cold or they can get you heated up. I broke out my new pair two weeks ago in Idaho when it was 10 degrees and 2500k up I was glad I had them on👍 in a typical year I live in them come November the shed water well but are not waterproof and will dry out pretty quick so much better than the heavy wool daysD90D3792-40FD-4FF5-8276-C936594F6E6A.jpeg26216149-C85D-4CB7-B2D4-5C621B6233C6.jpegdE7112DA2-C4E8-400D-A22E-2587B1EE22F0.jpeg

Everyone is different. First you need to know your own heat output before you can figure out what will work for you.

Everyone needs different levels of insulation during activity or being sedentary.

Personally I find I run warmer then average during exertion and colder then average when I'm stopped... the joy of a fast metabolism! I've guided large ski groups so have a pretty big cross section of comparables. In temps ranging from -35 to +10 celcius

Guide pants are way too hot for me during any level of exertion above -10* celcius and I'd absolutely freeze if I stopped, at those temps.

To me, Guide pants are very limited. I'd rather run something lighter and then layer with an insulation layer, either under my pants if I'm going to be semi active or over the top(down) if I'm going to be stopped for awhile.

The attack pants work very well for me over a much broader range of conditions.

The only time my guide Jacket is used is for still hunting, in temps just above freezing.

If you’re getting hot in the EB’s, you will get hot in the Guides. I like the Timberlines for late season. Even with a light long john, they don’t get as hot as a fleece lined pant. I’m not wearing fleece lined anything active until temps are below 20 degrees.

I packed out a buck wearing my guides when it was 60 degrees. Opened up the hip vents and wore my T shirt on top. It was totally fine. Personally I wear them any time it’s in the 40s or windy in the 50s, especially if there is some moisture. I probably run colder than most, and when I’m hunting I don’t move that fast anyways. I’d rather be a little to warm than too cold!

I have the guides and attack pants, I have worn my attack pants down to 15-20 degrees while in Wyoming with merino base and a fleece bottoms. No wind and very clear. I use the guides when it’s colder and if I know it’s gonna be windy, they are awesome, but knowing your layers also is very key.

I agree with most of the above and prefer unlined pants paired with heavier base layers as it gets colder.

I would say the attacks are going to be about the same as your mountain pants for warmth. Fine pants, just not any warmer than Sitka.

Now I’m leaning toward the timberlines. I don’t glass but I do stop and setup for calling in the timber with snow for whitetails. Just wish they had more solids and maybe hip vents.

I have never had Guide pants to comment but what I know for a fact is the new Attacks are cut even slimmer than before with shorter crotch. That is straight from KUIU after I was unpleasantly surprised when my attacks arrived and made a call to KUIU.

If it were me I'd get the Axis, especially if there is snow on the ground.
