Kiln or Klamath for do it all hoody

What is more versatile as a do it all piece? The kiln 250, or the Klamath? Looking for that mid layer for cold days as well as an outer layer that I can use on elk hunts as well as deer and spring turkey.

I wouldn’t buy a Kiln again, for mid later synthetic all the way. I have a Kuiu Peloton 97 and that thing dries way quicker than the Kiln, assuming the Klamath dries as quick but I don’t own one. Kiln is my at home around town hoody, 97 comes hunting.

I have both and feel like I get way more use or out the Klamath as a mid/outer layer. Sometimes I’ll only wear the Kiln with a wick 150 tshirt underneath, but I’ve found that I do much better with adding synthetic layers on top of base layers for sake of breathability and quicker drying. I use the kiln more as a heavier base layer layer on in the season when a 150 weight isn’t quite enough. Even then, still running the Klamath over he top.

I too would pick the Klamath if forced to choose between it and the Kiln. I wear a Wick more often than the Fuse or Kiln and the Klamath is my preferred layer over the Wick.

I love my Klamath. A crewneck merino baselayer and the Klamath hoody on top are the foundations of my layering system.

Good choice. I'm not a fan of merino as a mid layer. I like the Klamath over the kiln or fuse baselayer. Klamath isn't the warmest mid layer or something that'll block the wind but it's a nice comfortable midlayer that isn't too thick to throw something over the top of.

Kiln is more of a baselayer, and would only be used as an outer layer on pretty warm days. The Klamath is far better as a midlayer or active outer layer than the Kiln. If I could only have one of the two, I would choose the Kiln, but for what you described, the Klamath is the way to go.
