When I first started loading the ABLR, I was amazed at a tiny group I shot. I was sold. I went out and shot the calf pictured at 418 yards and it fell where it stood and rolled down the mountain about 20’. There was no exit or bullet found. The animal was quartering to, and the bullet ended up somewhere in the gut pile. I went gutless when I quartered her up so I never found the bullet.Great stuff. How do you like the ablr?
Fast forward to the next year, getting my rifle ready, and I couldn’t get them to group worth a darn. Doing lots of research on other forums, I’m not the only one with this problem. It seems the folks that have the best luck with consistent groups weight sorting the bullets. I really don’t have time for such hassles at the price point of those projectiles, so I moved on from the ABLR. The one animal I shot, the ABLR worked great terminally.
I’ve since moved on to the 215 Berger Hybrid that is known for its consistency and lethality. Both of which, I have found to be true.
The 155 in my 20” CTR is my favorite recipe out of all the rifles I have right now. Last year, I shot the antelope pictured above at 543 yards and a cow elk at 600 yards. Both live in my freezer now. Because I’m running the shorter 20” barrel on a .308, I like the velocity and trajectory the 155 provides. How do you like the 155 TMK’s at 308 velocity? I’m going to load some for deer this year.
Here’s how it groups at 600.
