I've had a couple days now to play around with a few of the different configurations the Nomad offers so I wanted to start a new thread for user reviews.

The majority of my hunts are day hunts so I wanted a pack that was more compact and organized and still had the ability to pack out an animal. Last year I ran a BT2 and although I could get the bag really compact I didn't feel organized and it was harder to get things in and out of my pack with all the straps compressing the bag in daypack mode. This is where Nomad really shines, it is very compact and has so many different options for attaching belt pouches, pockets etc. for an OCD organized person like me it's perfect. As you can see in the first pictures below I have the Nomad setup in daypack mode for coyote hunting. I also am running a back pouch on the waist belt where I have a Kryptek puffy jacket and my Poseidon raingear stored.

I also typically do a couple of backpack hunts a year. These are usually between 3-5 days. In one of the earlier threads Aron posted a picture with the Nomad and the Highcamp 4800 paired together and I really liked the idea of that option for my backpack hunts. I was a little worried about how the Highcamp would hook up to the frame and Nomad panel but it isn't an issue. The four 3 bar sliders on the lower back of the Highcamp attach to the frame like normal. The delta straps aren't used on the Nomad so they attach to the Highcamp and the lower Highcamp compression straps attach to the frame below the Nomad panel, and the uppers attach to the upper tabs on the Nomad panel. The pictures below show the Highcamp and Nomad with what's typical on 3-5 day hunt for me. The last picture shows the upper portion of the Highcamp compressed under the batwings. I have my puffy jacket and rain gear stuffed in the sleeping bag compartment and you can still access that zipper below the batwings. Now although I haven't had these in the field yet it's easy for me to know the Nomad was a great decision.

Wrench77 thanks for sharing. I am waiting on my Nomad to arrive. I already have a bikini frame. Would it be possible to share some photos of how the Nomad goes onto the frame? I will need to attach them when I receive the pack. I am new to the back country hunting culture and have zero experience. It would reduce my learning curve for when I receive the pack.

Glad Aron wasn't feeding us a load of crock about the pack. ;) Waiting patiently for my pack to arrive.

I'd be interested in seeing the attachments also.

I'm not sure if all my terminology is correct but I'll do the best I can. The Nomad slides over the top of the frame just like all the other bags do. You have to disconnect the load lifter straps and then thread those straps through the holes in black material. The lower panel has two straps with K connectors hanging down those attach to the lower tabs on the waist belt. The 3 horizontal compression straps attach to the frame tabs with g hooks. It is very simple to connect the Nomad to the frame and it will be pretty self explanatory once you actually have it in your hands.

The Highcamp Nomad combo sounds like a good way to go for longer trips, so what does Highcamp+Nomad+Bikini weigh?

Thanks for all this guys! I'm excited to see the first-hand reviews rolling in on the nomad. I recently ordered my bikini frame, but am still stuck on whether or not to order the EMR II or the Nomad. I'm super excited about the Nomad, but I'm a little worried about it's ability to perform during extended hunting trips (7 - 12 days). Like most guys, I do a couple extended trips, but the majority of my time will be spent on the 1 - 3 day length. But, I don't want the Nomad if it will leave me for wanting more on long trips.

Anyone been able to play around (either in-hand or in your mind) with a Nomad configuration that will shine on extended trips? Personally, I've thought about the camp bag, longhunter lid and grab-it II. This will make for a pretty big pack, but some of the fine-tune organization is lost with the camp bag versus the EMR II. Because of this concern, I'm leaning hard towards the EMR II.

With a little imagination I don't see why the Nomad would hinder longer trips, probably not gonna be as pretty as the EMR II fully loaded but should easily get the job done. Time will tell I guess.

I have spent ALOT of time looking over the EMR II and the Nomad. I will mainly be doing day hunts or overnighters but will throw in a few extended trips each year. The nomad will be best for 90% of my hunting, but the great thing about it is that it will easily handle extended hunts. Have a look at the videos that Aron has put together and you will see just how many options there are and the fact that you can easily get 9000ci+ space out of it. The Nomad is a no brainer to me.

The thing that drives me crazy is that I want both the nomad and the emr ii more than the dt2 and high camp 7k that I have. Anyone want to buy a dt2 or high camp? :(

I like the back pouch on the bottom. You can still have it cinched down, and open the zipper to grab your stuff quickly. I'll probably run the same set up for day trips and overnighters. My nomad should be here Tuesday, can't wait.

With those belt pouches in the middle, and the back pouch below, is the upper grab-it connection point available to use? It would be perfect if that connection point is right between the bottom belt pouch, and the top of the back pouch.

Scanbarker the upper grab it attachment is right between the two so no issue there.

Waiting for my nomad too...tick, tock. You said that's a back pouch below the batwings? That was my idea, too. I also have a sidezip medium long pocket. I think that will fit there really nice. Excited for so many options. Don't hesitate to post more pics....these threads make the wait more bearable.

Yes that's a back pouch cinched up. I should be getting an outdoor research dry sack in the next few days so I'll post some pics of how that configuration looks also. Just let me know if there any other pics that you guys want to see.

What size dry sack did you order? I am waiting on my Nomad to arrive and will be ordering a dry sack myself. Its nice to see what others are doing with configurations. Which belt did you order, the standard hunter belt or the tactical? Thanks for sharing.
