I've had a couple days now to play around with a few of the different configurations the Nomad offers so I wanted to start a new thread for user reviews.
The majority of my hunts are day hunts so I wanted a pack that was more compact and organized and still had the ability to pack out an animal. Last year I ran a BT2 and although I could get the bag really compact I didn't feel organized and it was harder to get things in and out of my pack with all the straps compressing the bag in daypack mode. This is where Nomad really shines, it is very compact and has so many different options for attaching belt pouches, pockets etc. for an OCD organized person like me it's perfect. As you can see in the first pictures below I have the Nomad setup in daypack mode for coyote hunting. I also am running a back pouch on the waist belt where I have a Kryptek puffy jacket and my Poseidon raingear stored.
I also typically do a couple of backpack hunts a year. These are usually between 3-5 days. In one of the earlier threads Aron posted a picture with the Nomad and the Highcamp 4800 paired together and I really liked the idea of that option for my backpack hunts. I was a little worried about how the Highcamp would hook up to the frame and Nomad panel but it isn't an issue. The four 3 bar sliders on the lower back of the Highcamp attach to the frame like normal. The delta straps aren't used on the Nomad so they attach to the Highcamp and the lower Highcamp compression straps attach to the frame below the Nomad panel, and the uppers attach to the upper tabs on the Nomad panel. The pictures below show the Highcamp and Nomad with what's typical on 3-5 day hunt for me. The last picture shows the upper portion of the Highcamp compressed under the batwings. I have my puffy jacket and rain gear stuffed in the sleeping bag compartment and you can still access that zipper below the batwings. Now although I haven't had these in the field yet it's easy for me to know the Nomad was a great decision.
