Kifaru fulcrum vs hoodlum

Any fulcrum owners want to chime in their experience. Likes/ dislikes?

I have a fulcrum. I’ve used it since they released that pack back in 2017, I ordered it within a few days of it becoming available. I like the lay out of the pack, the wing pockets and the size. I wish it wasn’t so “strappy”, you cinch down the main bag and then do it again with the wing pockets. It does hold loads secure but it can be a little annoying.

I’ve used mine on 2 separate sheep hunts along with several other hunts and training sessions. I have it set up with an organizer guide lid and a few medium pockets.

I don’t use it as much as before since I mostly use a stone glacier pack and a Barney’s frame but the fulcrum is on tap. I wouldn’t hesitate to use it for any hunt.

I have a fulcrum pack I got off the classifieds last year. That pack is a beast, but also packs down so small in day mode. But if you are successful you have the giant main bag to pack meat out in. Using the bag over meat shelf is the better choice when possible. A couple extra straps isn’t really that big of a deal to me. The size of the fulcrum makes it nice if you need to throw all your gear in fast and not worry about how you pack it. I can get up to 14 days out of this pack in early season when temps aren’t too cold. With a lid and belt pouches you are over 9000. I definitely recommend removing the plastic sheets from wing pockets. They aren’t necessary and shed a decent amount of weight. The options are endless with this pack. I also have a 44mag which is an awesome pack but now that I have the fulcrum I don’t even consider the 44 mag most trips. It’s my loaner most of time now

Leaning towards fulcrum . More of a "hurry up and throw your stuff in " type of guy. Like the idea of main bag large enough to put meat and camp stuff in securely while able to get in wings if needed without removing tension off main bag. Not to bothered by straps. Like the way it folds down into day pack mode. Thanks fellas
