Kifaru Enters the Hunting Apparel Space: Review by Howard Mee

They lost me with $300 pants and a dude with a nose ring pitching the hoodie.. Do the pants come with a TV in them? They chose high margins over appealing to their core audience. Like all the other clothing companies in the hunting space they have turned into a fashion show. Disappointing.

Listened to a podcast with their new clothing designer. Sounds like a nice person. I believe they will do well with the uninitiated.

100% agree. Seems to me it’s not the Kifaru of 5 Years ago and beyond.

$300 does seem like a lot and many people have mentioned that across several threads here. My thought on it is that these pants being a laminated soft shell are designed to be something that will do all, but the extreme downpour or high heat situations. As much as I love a layering system I do value a single piece that will cover your bases and keep things simple, less things in your pack making your pack feel lighter. Also, I’m not aware of any budget options for a laminated soft shell pant, it’s a rare piece even in mountaineering. Looking forward to your thoughts and experience with these.
