Anyone else excited about the new 75 degree bolts they released? Ordered 2 today for my nanooks.
Has anyone here tried one yet? I'm sure the feel of the cock on open with a 15 degree shorter throw will take some getting used to but having that extra room between the bolt handle and scope will be very nice. Especially with the one I have a NX8 on.

Can you put a 75° bolt in a 90° action body? No worry of lugs not properly sitting on the action body's 90° abutments?

Yup its still a 2 lug action so you can retrofit the new bolt into your old action. Defiance and impact are doing the same thing now too

Hmmmm I saw this option on new actions when perusing their site the other night. Didn’t know it was an option to retrofit existing actions.

I wonder if bat is the same. My Vesper short is 75° and would love to have 75° on my bumblebee.

I know for a fact that all new bumblebee sales will come with a 75 degree bolt, heard that from Bruce himself.. it would be worth giving them a call to see if you can get one.

While your at it ask them if they can make one for my vampire please 🤣

I think I read some where at least one of the action companies listed wanted you to send in your action so they could headspace etc so they would not just send you a bolt. Can’t remember which one so may check that for those interested.

I have purchased interchangeable bolt bodies from bat for the igniter and bumblebee that all headspaced perfectly. They do a good job of holding tolerances.

Same with kelbly
I dont think he was talking about the Bat machine actions, it was a different manufacturer that was mentioned and he's right because I remember reading the same thing but can't remember if it was impact or defiance that wants the receiver back to match a bolt up with. I think it was Defiance but im not positive.

Defiance would be my guess as well. They couldn't hold nominal headspace on their ruckus tenacity and anti lines when they first released them. They get their poop in a group eventually.

Yup...thats one action manufacturer that I've never really had interest in owning their product.
That new titanium x is appealing because of the weight but im still not sure how I feel about titanium actions. I would need to spend time behind one before I commit.

If you own a kelbly its really not a terrible price either, 300 bucks for a stripped bolt. You swap over all the internals at home.

It’s Defiance.

I like their actions, but can’t figure out why they didn’t make all their bolts the same between their actions. Not surprised they had financial issues.

I know defiance won’t last I checked but it wasn’t them that I read wanted people to send their action in. I own two of their actions and will probably sell one and upgrade to an impact nbk. Bat seems to have had their stuff together for a while now but oddly you just don’t see a lot of guys running them it seems. I probably shouldn’t but I need to look at their line again it’s been a while since I have.

Vampires are now being made with 75° bolt throw as well. I emailed BAT about converting my 90° Vampire to a 75° and I was told "Unfortunately, it is not possible" 😢

See that leads me to believe it's more than just the bolt. It's a coordination of primary extraction, cocking ramp and cocking piece cam helix interface between the action and the bolt that provides proper timing of the ignition system and action function.

What i think is, Bat designed an action (hammerhead) to be 75 degrees, then implemented those changes across their whole repeater receiver line up, whilst everyone else designed a bolt to be 75 degrees that would work with their existing line up.

75° short vespers were available before hammerheads

Impact's 75 degree bolts just drop in to their current 90 degree actions so there's probably some truth to this.
