Jim Green Moc Toe Boots

How’s the width? They appear to be quite narrow for a barefoot-style boot in the photos
Width isn’t full-blown barefoot, but it’s wide enough for me. I’m not a barefoot purist but I wear bedrocks all summer and appreciate a roomy toe box- this would have that if it were long enough

Since I didn’t qualify for returns and they were just barely small I decided to try my hand at stretching them. I was able to get them comfortable for normal wear but they’re still shorter than I’d want for hiking in steep terrain. I may visit a cobbler and see if they can win me any more space- if I had another millimeter of toe room at this point that would be enough.

After a little more work I’ve got my barefoot workhorses pretty comfortable and took them into the woods this past weekend.

The right boot is 10/10, it’s incredibly comfortable and a perfect fit now. If both boots fit this well I’d never wear another shoe. But the left boot is a 8/10, a bit wide in the heel, and has taken a lot more work to get this comfortable.

They’re not remotely waterproof even with nikwax on them, the seams are just too numerous and large. But they dry fast and aren’t too uncomfortable when wet. they’re also flexible, with excellent traction, and they did a good job protecting my feet. But they’re very cold.

All in all they’ll make excellent early season bowhunting shoe for stalking here in the Ozarks, provided it’s not too wet. They also would have been perfect for the flat sandy terrain of my recent public land nilgai hunt.

Can anyone offer up a comparison of the Jim Green’s versus Courtney boots? The Courtneys are about all I wear during my yearly African pilgrimages, but it would be nice to have a more local boot source.
