Hi guys. I missed the entire season due to a broken collar bone. I forgot my mountain bike suspension is not as forgiving as my dirt bike at speed. Anyway, I'm looking to start off 2015 in Arizona. I have narrowed it down to units 17B,22 and 23. But I'm open to other areas if U have an idea for me to research.I'm looking to be there too scout by December 29th or 30th. I have never set foot in these areas. I really appreciate any info u can share. Besides hunting info what can I expect with temperature , snow , etc...
I could take my trailer if the weather is real bad but prefer to bivy hunt. Also I don't have a partner so not hauling a trailer saves on gas cost.I'm set up for winter as far as gear and mountain skill. I used to do a lot of winter mountaineering type stuff. Thanks for your time

Weather can change in a minute! It could go to freezing temps to 70 in no time.

I don't know where you live but I would say the deer density is lower in az so be prepared to not see a ton of deer. Coues are addicting btw. Fair warning

Unfortunately I live in California. But we're not all liberal wackos . Anyway. Im more than happy to travel to other states and had plans this past season before my injury. I'm thinking az is a good option because I'll have my shooting confidence back by then for 1. Also I like the fact I can hunt 3 times for big game OTC and put in for 2 draws on that one license. At Least that's my understanding ? Any thoughts on that . I know that these OTC are difficult and it could be ugly I just feel I need to get out. My entire season , preservation , everything went out the window douce been pretty bummed. I could head to colorado for the January elk , but I know even less about colorado ? Thanks for post.

Good way to put it with the weather went from 15 in the morning to 70's by lunch time and also food for thought is illegal immigration traffic even though I've been told its slow time of the year according to border patrol where we were

Anyone of those units in AZ will do.......I've hunted 17B quite a bit over the years.......some toads show up in the rut from the flats. Good hunt to bring a trailer and camp out of, too.

Thanks guys. I was looking at 22 game unit description and it looks like there is a rifle hunt that goes on in the unit trough mid February . Is that correct? I looked in the regs but could not find it ? I plan to call the state Monday for more info

If you have facebook , Broadhead Brotherhood is a group you can join , tons of AZ hunters with good knowledge willing to help

id450, let me know what you find out from the state. I just moved to St. George, Utah and am missing out on Whitetail hunting. The countdown to next fall is to long a wait for me so I may look into the Arizona option as well.

Thank u ill check out the group. Jjentriner39 sounds good. I spent some time scouting southern Utah this summer when I was broken, great place. . I'll let u know
