Any speculation on how bad things will be come next year to get a can? Think it'll take six months to get a can possessed?

Kind of tempted to just buy one right now and pay the tax to make sure I'll have it for next season and time to play with it before hand. I "need" a can anyways.

Has to be thousands of cans the atf will have to process plus SBRs. Has me a little worried.

My guess is the system crashes completely on the 1st. Couple days later they’re processing at the current reasonable (for the feds) pace and $0 submissions take 6 weeks at the peak of the madness. Quickly returns to being measured in day. That being said, I did pay for a stamp last month to get a 300 blk up and running.

Silencer Shop was running a promotion to buy and reserve your suppressor now, but delay the transfer until Jan 1 so you don't have to pay the tax stamp. I'm not sure if they are still doing that, but that is how I purchased my OCL Hydrogen S to ensure that I would get one before they potentially sold out or went up in price due to demand. I wasn't in a rush to get it for this hunting season, so I was fine with waiting. Less than a month until I can pick it up!

I was skimming through some info while I was busy the other day. I saw it mentioned that the atf plans to change some paperwork starting in Jan also and the stuff pending would have to be resubmitted under the new paperwork? Anybody seen anything about this or was this just some guys speculation?

They talked about this here. Said seeing price increases due to supply and demand. I bought now.

That’s if you get approved quickly…

If you are ready to go and there's something in stock at your local shop should be no problem getting through by the end of the year, or week for that matter.

With the Christmas holiday coming, it's a gamble to have a suppressor form 3 from a vendor, and ship in time to your local shop.

I’d make that decision quick. It takes time to get in what you want via form 3, and the wave will start before Jan 1.

If you don’t have a suppressor, besides paying 200$ it has never been faster or easier than it is right now. Ever.
Form 3's are still going quick at the moment.
I submitted one Saturday around noon and it was approved by 5 am Monday morning.

Yeah going to order a UM Reaper today or tomorrow (when the paycheck hits the bank). Then next spring I'll probably order a couple more cans without a stamp.

Suppressors are just too much fun. Only have five right now and need another four atleast

What did you end up getting?
I built a SBR on a shield arms folder. It's my discrete backpack gun for church. Want to go to a 5" barrel with a can and have it still fit folded in the bag. Load up some black hills TMK supers.

Submitted last Friday for my OG65, now I’m checking my email every hour for my approval. I don’t know what Jan 1st will look like but I didn’t want to risk finding myself back in the 9 month waiting days. That sucked.

AB warthog 7.62. Love that thing. Just dumped a couple hundred more subs through it this morning. Fits nicely in a tennis racket bag with an 8” barrel.

Back in my day it took over a year to get your approval.....

I wouldn't be surprised if it returned to something like that again. However, I will be moving all of my stuff to a trust once there's no fee. Win/win because at that point I really don't care how long it takes.

I do have a couple more I want to buy but it's too late now so I'm along for the ride.

Snagged a two-fer off of silencershop the resilient Jolene and rambling man, opted to wait since I have plenty of cans and don’t “need” these, so I’ll see what it’s like come January.
My first can a few years ago was an 11 month wait my last one I got a couple months back was an 11 hour wait, as for speculation I think it will maybe jump back to a few weeks for approval and then comeback to a day or two. I think we often over estimate how many nuts there are like us, Rokslide is a pretty hyper focused community, I’m not worried about year long waits anymore

Love the idea of getting a bunch of lowers turned into SBR’s since I have a trust and you can always put a longer barrel on if you want. Will definitely be looking into that next year

Pretty sure you have to surrender your cans while waiting for the approval into a trust because it's still a Form-4 transfer.

I submitted Friday and got approved this morning as an individual, because the "approved SS dealer" I went through is a shit show and had no clue what a single shot trust is even though I called and verified prior..

I don't believe you do when transferring from yourself to a trust you are the trustee of. While it is waiting for approval transfer you as a person own the can, once its approved as a trust (and you are the trustee) the trust owns the can.
