Is there such a thing as Hardened Scope Ring Screws?

A hardened screw is just asking for more trouble. If it strips you can't drill it. If it cross threads it will mess up what it screws into. I've had luck with TaperPin's method and also with using a dremel cutting wheel to cut a stubborn screw in between the ring halves. Once the tension is off the remaining screw body usually comes out easily.

Top Ring Sections - need New, the Shoulder where the Screws are were drilled out as well to get the clearance to get them off. Now if they sell just these Parts??? See Attached Drill Out Top Halves Will Need New.png

The Info from Brownell states these Screws are 6 x 48 yet they are not they are 8 x 40 measured with digital Calipers, good thing I did not jump the gun and go by there Product Details. Would have placed an order for the wrong Screws?

Look at getting a screw extractor kit for Allen head screws, way easier. Tap them into screw head and turn out. Kimball Midwest sells a decent set for a pretty good price. Kroil helps also to penetrate the threads.
