I’m not sure who is in charge of passing judgment on whether my past Leupold sale on RS passes ethical review, but for what it’s worth:

if my personal Leupold never failed me (admittedly following very little actual use), and I made the personal decision that I’d prefer to switch to another brand that I believe is more reliable, was I morally deficient in failing to explain that change of view/basis to the buyer on here?

All that matters is if you sold it for more than you paid for it.

As long as you didn't, you are fine.

Yes, morally corrupt. Also way worse if it was MOA and you know mils are better and didn't say anything.

Thank you.

I’m thinking ahead for my upcoming NF scope I will be putting up on the classifieds:

“WTT/WTS - NF SHV 3-10x 40. Full disclosure - I never shot this scope, but I mounted it. It has seen some use (please see https://rokslide.com/forums/threads/nightforce-shv-3-10x40mm-field-eval.338360/). It’s also MOA, which God has proclaimed inferior to MILs. It’s also not a Leupold. More pics available for serious buyers.”

I would say the value of used leupolds has tanked. It seems like they go for about 50-60% of new. Swfas go for about 150% of new.

Who got closure? :D
Lol, I thought it was a good ending point regardless of who wants to claim closure... This stuff breaks guys down and gets into a urinary Olympian. We all know what has worked, we all know what is more reliable. Both of them exist at the same time. It's ridiculous to pic nits and play semantics from either side.

I've had Leupolds on my rifles for 30 years, more big game than some hunters have seen in their life has gone in my freezer. However I am not going to lie, I wonder what's up when
I'm needing to tweak each year when verifying zero. Even after a successful hunt the year before, that put the bullet right where I wanted it.

Last spring bought a Meopro 3-9x40 BDC from a member here. I have since mounted it on my main hunting gun. Will do a comparison. If the Meopro scope holds tighter groups over a couple range sessions, then I know there's an answer to the question.

How would the scope hold
Tighter groups? I can shoot a tight group without a scope. Zero shifting…that’s different?
Maybe not.

I get what you're saying. I should have said maintains zero/sight in vs tight groups. Very different things. I was being too casual and using them interchangeably.

After catching up on 5 pages, I quit reading.

The best and most reliable equipment especially if your man enough is a knife.

No chance of scope failure, no chance of a bad shot. It's the best for the hubting industry!
Unless you order from GOAT knifes and get ghosted 😆

Leupold scopes still sell pretty well here, especially the older none VX5 or VX6 with the dial type scopes, and I see them bringing as much as they sold for new years ago, in some cases decades ago. I like mine although most are the older ones but have 2 of the VX5's and have no issues with them. I have used those older ones in some cases a long time and I hunt and shoot a lot, plus I have at least 6 on pretty hard kicking TC Encore pistols and have not blown one up yet.....and I'm talking 8" barreled 500 S&W and 14" barreled wildcats on a necked down 50 Alaskan case kicking out 400gr slugs@1800fps. I just don't see what the naysayers see, but then I'm not dialing them all over to see how well they track because that does not pertain to my use of the scopes. I set it and forget it. My range limit is about 450 yards.....you can almost always get that close to just about anything anywhere. As for SWFA and Vortex......I myself wouldn't own Japanese/Asian optic anything, but I do have 2 NF scopes I am trying out but I'm not really fond of the MOA reticles for my hunting uses and nowhere near the optical quality of Leupold's...and much heavier too but I'm willing to sacrifice somewhat on the weight since both rifles are ~ 5lbs. out of the box. Hey, you like what you like and I will like what I like. You tell me I'm a bum for using a Leupold and I'm going to call you a bum for using anything other......it's that simple.
