How do ya'll with intact dogs protect their jewells when hunting in snow/ice? My Griff's junk was red, raw, and looked painful as heck after hunting on Sunday. Please advise...

When I used to hunt the rose bush thickets of the Palouse, my griffs finished each day with bloody scabs on the bottom side. I concur with the rest of you on bagbalm and often. They get tougher as the scar tissue forms.

When I know he's in pain and they're bothering him, it's hard for me to do nothing. To each their own.
I get that. Guess we never had any of them show pain.

My buddy's first dog had a quite pendulous sack. One time he cut it open on a milo stalk. Remember his hind quarters turning pink as the day went on. Haven't thought about that for a long time lol.

I don't think there is a lot you can do other than watch how much time you spend in cover that can cause the issue. For that, you might try a different pattern through the cover to cover most of the same terrain with less running for the dog.
