Im looking for some suggestions on a packable, insulated, windproof jacket to throw in the pack and throw on while glassing or sitting. I do t have much preference on down or synthetic but synthetic is easier to care for. Also I don’t want to sound like a foil trash bag if I move while wearing it. Ideally the jacket would be solid green or similar in color.

My goal is to be warm while stationary in temps teens and up. Normally I wear my axis jacket over my other other layers but depending on the layers, I end up being cold after an hour or so or, I am so bundled up I dont have full range of motion.

Im looking at the kuiu super down, raab nebitron (not a fan of the velcro cuffs), rab cirrus or skre PTARMIGAN. The rei co-ops are sold out on any color I would prefer to wear. First lite tops have never fit me right so I haven’t even looked at them. I don’t want to spend more than $300 since this will spend most if its lift in a closet or pack.

Warm while stationary in teens = 8oz+ of down for me. Sitka hyperdown is a syn/down blend, larger cut, nice fabric, might be a good one to consider.

Kuiu super down pro, etc in the 5oz range are tough as sitting puffies in teens, for me. Not enough.

Newer FL cuts have been a lot better - might be worth considering if you want to go synthetic, North Range is a nice piece. Not sure about white cloud but that’s heavier fill weight as well.

Would also consider Rab alpine down jacket
