23 years ago I'm sitting in a room at San Diego's Balboa Naval Hospital waiting for my first appointment with the orthopedic surgeon for my knee. In walks this Commander in Navy White's and the only thing I see is his gold Trident on his chest. I'm thinking....."what the heck"? Well, he was a SEAL then went to medical school and became an orthopedic surgeon. Impressive to say the least. Heck of a surgeon and overall great guy. Three years later I'm in Monterey and I get a phone call. It's him. He says he has a medical conference up there and wants to get together and check out my knee. Seriously? WOW! Now that's service. Last time I saw him in 2002 or so he was a 2-star Admiral. Those guys just never quit.......at anything they do. I could use one of those guys as a hunting partner.
