There is enough censorship happening out there already, lets not push for it over here. Don't read the political treads if you can't handle it.
If there are certain issues, laws and mandates that step on our rights, than those aware of it should bring it up to the attention of the other hunters. We should not burry our heads in the sand and ignore it.

Some just like to whine and pound their chests. They can pound sand.
Some are “plants” or “shills“, not hunters or sportsmen at all. America hating leftists who are actively working to push their tainted agenda. You know, the “me twit, woke and cancel culture“ sheep and their Commie masters.

This is the problem with political threads. The above is highschool name calling. It is one thing to call an opinion ignorant (or whatever else you like) it is another thing to call the person such things.

Awareness is great, but when the discussion devolves into posts like the above constructive conversation becomes more difficult.

As was stated and I agree with,
I disagree with you about those people being on hunting and outdoor sites posing as sportsmen. I believe there are a bunch of moderate, center or a wee bit left or right here that are angry with the NRA, big business, and Republicans but aren't Democrats. Others are truly agnostic about politics and hate both sides. Hunting sites and hunters have been extremely Conservative and traditional and that is rapidly changing. I was the open minded Libertarian back in the 90s that argued with real hard core conservatives on some issues. I truly believe a considerable amount of hunters on the forum are jaded about politics and just don't want to hear about it.
However, with the original post by Wib, my agreement with Billinsd's post forces me to conclude that Wib must be talking about me as I don't see this presence of ultra left people, meaning I must be blinded to them because I'm one of them.

I will point out that Wib also agrees with Billinsd's post, so clearly that is not the case. But, it beggs the question, why even make the statement? Was it just finger vomit on the keys?

More visits and more posts benefit the site, owners. It seems a shame to turn that away.

I tend to just shrug and move on when a post or thread seems off track.

I don’t think it’s politics that’s the problem... I think it’s D-bags. But some of those D-bags can generate a tremendous amount of traffic... which helps ensure the continuation of Rokslide.

So, maybe create a forum for the problematic and banned posters to be banished to. You could call it “Cliffed Out” or “Treed” They can rant and rave at each other, continuing to generate traffic, but be unable to pollute other forums and threads with posts. Regular Roksliders could visit this forum of the damned if they choose and even drop a quarter in or stir the pot.

Make what statement? That there are blind sheep easily led by the PC thought of the day? That is simple fact. You know orange man bad, BLM and Antifa good, Cops bad, illegal invaders good...THIS is what the leftist media feeds sheep everyday. Only sheep eat it up.

While we are banning things:

- skinny jeans
- neck beards
- fedoras
- man buns
- creamy lotiony hands that can’t grip a tackle box

i also think we should have a sub forum for discussing Ryan “ole Cal” Callaghan That guy is a damn sexual .

Don’t forget the flat brims.

Censorship gets thrown around all over the place these days. I'd be curious to see how many posts are removed, users banned, or threads locked, per week here as is. I suspect it is more than you think. It is a privately owned website - does your right to free speech supercede their right to delete content? Food for thought. Not sure where I stand on the issue yet.

I think this site needs to be curated to some extent. If it turns into something like 24 Hour Campfire, I would think a bunch of the current advertisers would pull their support.

It truly is very important for hunting and outdoor sites to not only allow but encourage political conversation. Our very rights as citizens depends on it, but more exacting to the sites hunting and gun ownership depends on an involved citizen. What the socialists/globalists and their liberal sheep want is for this type of conversation to be silenced. THEY will tell us not only what can be discussed, but what we can think. To have a sub-forum as has been mentioned would be fine, but to what purpose? If it makes some feel better well alrighty then....

Since we're throwing out crazy ideas- joking, kinda....

I think there should be a requirement for each member to post at least 1 current pic of themselves sitting next to a dead critter every year. 2 things would happen 1- guys would lose the aninomity of hiding behind an avatar and screen name. 2- seems most of the flagrant political posters never actually go outside, limit this place to guys that actually kill stuff and I bet the irrelevant political posts go way down.

It would not make either happen. Lots of pics with critters out there anyone can use and claim. It also reeks of big brother

Speaking of which, 24 Hour Campfire has been down for several days now...

The absence of being involved in the world of current affairs by keeping ones head buried in the sand of huntin' is the reason why that other side has such a foothold on wildlife management.

When a federal "judge" can decide what's best for an ecosystem, something ain't right...

General Discussion Forum

Post thread
A place to discuss anything and everything that doesn't have its own forum

Tough to argue with the fact that this part of Roksilde is exactly where posts like the ones you don't want to see belong. Just sayin'.

There is a forum on here for just about everything hunting related. Seems to me the General Discussion forum is right where we should be able to post about anything that isn't directly related to hunting.

I think things are fine the way they are. It falls under the General discussion forum guidelines. Plus these subjects could bring thing to light for the unknown.

The entire statement that I quoted. The statement that said "Some just like to whine and pound their chests. They can pound sand. Some are “plants” or “shills“, not hunters or sportsmen at all. America hating leftists who are actively working to push their tainted agenda. You know, the “me twit, woke and cancel culture“ sheep and their Commie masters." The context of the statement makes it refer to members of this forum (that or you are just rambling about things that are not relevant to the conversation at hand).

You then agree with a statement that contradicts the rational interpretation of what you said. However, you subsequently double down on what you said being relevant to the conversation ABOUT THIS FORUM (not a conversation about society in general). You also double down on name calling. Those are not rational nor compatible. Though it does confirm finger vomit rather than reasoning. In general, an inability to be internally consistent is the domain of "sheep" and a sign of deficient independent thought. However, generalities describe just that, and applying them to an individual rarely paints an accurate picture. Though it does get tempting when the individual in question proves unwilling to engage in constructive or relevant conversation.

The other problem with the term sheep, is sheep are not very dangerous. As Winston Churchill aptly growled back when someone referred to the masses as sheep, "carnivorous sheep." It is a widely accepted principle in war that only a fool fails to respect the danger posed by the enemy as doing that results in being unprepared.

If guys want to talk politics on a section a outdoor forum like this I could care less. What I dont like is when it bleeds into every other section and post. Bashing a guy on the rifle or a backpacking forum section for something he posted on a general discussion forum is tiresome. Im not the sort that thinks he needs to comment and or read every post made on a general discussion forum. I just move along if I don't care for the way the conversation goes.

YOU are just babbling to hear yourself. Impressive. Either you are confused or lying. I agreed with that statement that these shills are not the majority. I did not agree that they do not exist, here and other sites. I clearly pointed out they do. But * snowflakes need to heard too.
Blind dumb sheep are indeed powerful when by the millions they follow their masters to the voting booth misinformed and easily led by that ring in their nose. I don't believe that the socialist tag team in question got more than 16 million more votes than did Obama though in either of his elections. I don't believe the sheep are that powerful, but other forces are.

You are correct, I misread your post as I over looked the "they exist here..." portion. I stand corrected.
We agree on this more than you realize. I’m not saying the majority of those whining are posing as sportsmen. Those you speak of are the majority. but the radical liberal anti-hunters and the like are part of the equation. They exist here, and on all related sites. They know they can not change hunters or freedom and liberty loving citizens. Their goal is to silence us knowing they can’t change us. In time, then they will be able to FORCE change.

I'm pretty sure you just called me a ******* snowflake as I cannot think of any other way that line makes sense. Please explain how I'm wrong as my reading comprehension is apparently lacking and I don't want to repeat my mistake.

Edit: Rokslide now asterisks out profanity. I've never liked referencing words I'm not actually willing to say. All the same, that is pretty cool on the part of the mods. Guess my Navy mouth will finally be tamed.

Your douchebaggery is a great example of what we don't need on this site. Carry on

I hesitate to even post on this thread, buy got sucked in.

I have been on 24hourcampfire for near 20 years. Just like Rokslide, the early years were ALMOST all about hunting related stuff. There was some name calling and that escalated as our political divide widened.

I did not post much because I realized I was not as knowledgeable as some and did not want to be embarrassed for it. As the callouts and bickering increased, mostly on the general discussion forum, I shied away from that forum and tuned in less overall. Eventually I learned when a thread was headed sideways and stepped away from that topic. Easy enough and I even learned which personalities to avoid for my own mental health.

I post more today on there than ever before because I believe that it is important to stand up for our freedoms. The point is that we all need to know what is transpiring that affects our future.

I found Rokslide and think it is a GREAT hunting forum that is managed extremely well for all hunting , fishing and outdoor pursuits. It is the members that bring a willingness to share their experiences along with the moderators diligence that makes it such a good site. If the quality of character matches your knowledge to share, be diplomatic in your words and tolerant of perceived slights. An environment that allows a free exchange of ideas and discussions of issues is what we all should be striving for.
