News flash. Politics directly affect every single thing you and I do every single day.
Yep, politics is nothing more than a difference in opinion in what makes the most logical sense. We see that every day on here and every forum on the internet, regardless what the subject is. "What's the best this"......"what's the best that"......

If every single person on the planet "had no agenda" and only had or made opinions that make the most logical sense on every detail......there would be no disagreements in anything and politics would cease to exist.

So, whether discussing national issues for our nation, hunting issues, or even equipment discussions........they all provide indications of just how people's minds work, and also what agenda's they have. Both carry over into pretty much everything in life. So you may believe that you are avoiding political discussions.......even when you aren't. Most people think that just discussing national issues is talking politics.

One of the biggest problems we have today, is determining and sorting out the wheat from the chaff.......so to speak.......regardless of the subject. There are so many outright lies and misinformation put out these days, and most people just refuse to do their own homework or use their own minds to sort all that out. So they are constantly making false conclusions based on false premises.......just because that's what they've heard or been told.

Leave it up to Ryan and Robby and the moderators. They do a great job and its their site. I, just like everyone else on here has what they like to read and what they don't like. But I do agree that the info on here has changed. Let's keep on rockin backcountry hunting!

While we are banning things:

- skinny jeans
- neck beards
- fedoras
- man buns
- creamy lotiony hands that can’t grip a tackle box

i also think we should have a sub forum for discussing Ryan “ole Cal” Callaghan That guy is a damn sexual .

Is that you, Cal?

I agree that even i find the Rok less enjoyable to scroll though lately.
Lots of craziness happening right now so the bleed over is to be expected. Without a doubt there are numerous members who have been emboldened in thier political postings and the amount they post about it.

It only takes a second to do a self check of your personal last 10 to 15 posts. Are they mostly political? If you answered yes it's time to start posting about actual hunting content.

Why is it so difficult for folks who won't want to read about politics to not read the political posts?

Sitting there in a sweat, trying to not click on the thread. Back and forth. Aaaugh! And they click as the blood pressure rises. LOL some folks need constant supervision. LOL
Some just like to whine and pound their chests. They can pound sand.
Some are “plants” or “shills“, not hunters or sportsmen at all. America hating leftists who are actively working to push their tainted agenda. You know, the “me twit, woke and cancel culture“ sheep and their Commie masters.

Thanks for the comments everyone... my mind has been changed and I don't think there should be a political forum. Yes the internet changed my mind.

In my opinion @realunlucky was spot on with the above post.

Hopefully the trend that I perceived doesn't continue. Rokslide is awesome and I hope it stays that way.

I say leave it as it is, if you are not happy with a particular thread leave it no one is forcing you to view it.

If you are not happy about religion being posted, leave the thread.

I enjoy the freedom to post and hear others opinions, for those saying go to facebook I do not have one as I refuse to support that organization and censorship on every other platform is insane.

This is a small beacon of free speech and I say leave it as it is. No one is forcing you to view anything and I don't see the politics spilling over in to unrelated topics very much.

The reference of the sheep hunting forum asking if vaccines will be mandatory to travel seems like it is pretty relevant to hunting to me.

You don't see myself or others asking to shut down things we may see as irrelevant so why should you?

If you don't like it move on and find one you do like.

I think old school bar rules work great.

No discussing religion or politics. Period.

I’d love to see that policy implemented here. I get that politics affects everything, especially hunting and shooting, but damn, I need a break.

It started out useful, then turned into the usual argument over vax vs not. That is the problem, the original intent was pertinent.

I've asked all kinds of hunting questions on forums since Al Gore invented the internet!! I've also gleaned tons of information on hunting by perusing posts. I've waded through many of them with hip waders and sometimes chest waders. It can be frustrating and difficult. I've become a master at finding diamonds in the rough!! The politics is another part of the rough, just like willful misinformation, incompetent, disrespectful, disingenuous information, and all the rest. You gotta have a mental filter to wade through it all. That's what I do.

I wish all Hunting sites would remove political topics. If I wanted to talk politics I can go to the barbershop.

I see what you are saying, but I do not find it to difficult to go on to another thread if you don't want to view it.

I really enjoy the freedom this site offers, I've participated in a few discussions on here and try to inform others on potential upcoming political policies/bills. I do not think they always devolve. I sincerely enjoy having a discussion with someone of an opposing opinion, and yes I have changed my mind before because of it.

I can appreciate not wanting to hijack a thread if I were talking about elk hunting in a unit etc.. then it would be irrelevant for someone to bring up saving the sea turtles or whatever within that thread.

As long as the discussion doesn't devolve into name-calling and insult flinging or completely hijacking a thread with nothing relevant I see no issue with it.

Wow, we pulled in a Russian bot. Look at the post history. How weird.
I’m more concerned about the America hating leftists who want to abolish hunting and do away with the 2nd Amendment along with the rest of their radical agenda. You’ll find them on all hunting and outdoor sites, posing as sportsmen themselves asking for free speech to be abolished. Begging for political conversations to be limited or be banned, out of reasons of good intention of course. These enemies need to be identified and outed.
