Identify that pistol

I’m helping a neighbor with valuing his fathers gun collection since he recently passed away. He sent me pictures and a spreadsheet with model names and all that. This is the only one I’m unsure on. He called this S&W revolver a “752” but I don’t believe that model is actually a thing. I thought it looks like a model 686.

Anyone care to weigh in?

.357 mag? Six or seven shot cylinder? Sure looking like a 686 or 686+ to me.

The model # should be stamped on the left side of the frame when you open the cylinder.

.357, 6 shot. I'll relay that he needs to look behind the cylinder as well. That picture was all I got. Thanks guys.

SW 65 series with a 4 inch barrel from the looks of it.

I ran the serial number through S&W. Turns out it is indeed a 686. All set now.

That’s a 686, I used to have one identical to that.
