Idaho resident but I've only hunted the Owyhee September archery tag. Can anybody here weigh in on how hot (in degrees Fahrenheit) the Smokey-Bennett units (44,45,48,52) tend to be in August, in the parts where antelope are to be found? Anywhere with a snowball's chance of staying under 90F the last two weeks of August?

Hunted all those units pretty sure they are all draw units for antelope except 45 ( I’m unsure) so maybe double check the regs if you are planning on going after them.

It will be hot. Best thing you can do is have a cooler full of ice bc you will want to get that meat cooled immediately.

I have seen antelope in all of those units… best thing you can do is some pre season scouting.

Good luck!

For late summer, it's fairly nice. Hot days (90's), cool nights (60's). You can get a pretty good sunburn up high. As in all mountainous areas, you can get violent storms roll in but generally dry. About what you'd expect.

All antelope tags are draw units in Idaho, but a handful are "unlimited draw", so if you put in for it you get it. 44,45,48,52 are actually all on the same tag.

Thank you for your input. I've spent time in the Owyhee desert but very little in the "Smokey-Bennett" area, when the weather warms up I am planning on a few road trips.
