I’m looking at unit 18 and 23 for spring bear. It’s directly across the snake from where we bear hunt in Oregon. Any insight would be appreciated.
Both units are solid choices. Great opportunity for spot and stalk and combination of low to high elevation.I’m looking at unit 18 and 23 for spring bear. It’s directly across the snake from where we bear hunt in Oregon. Any insight would be appreciated.

I’ve always thought the same looking across HC into your neck of the woods!I figure it’s similar to the country I hunt just across the river in Oregon. Great glassing country conducive to stretching out the 7-300 win mag.
If you want a paper map, I like Big Sky Maps or regular BLM maps.what's the best resource for Idaho hunting unit maps?
That’s a helluva offer!!Looking at a taking the Cessna into the Middle Fork sometime around the end of May or early June. If anyone's local to the Boise area, I'd welcome a cost splitter! Probably make it a 2-3 day hunt/scout trip. Usually a good way to get in deep before all the access roads open.
Someone better jump on that, that's a good way to see that country before all the access points open up. I'm up by Challis, I only go to Boise when work makes me lol.Looking at a taking the Cessna into the Middle Fork sometime around the end of May or early June. I've never baited and it's not likely since I'm coming from out of state and only there 8-10 days. I had luck in PA with calling in a bear with a screaming rabbit and was curious if anyone has had luck with any particular calls in ID and what they were.

Thanks. I'll check those out.I called in a few Idaho bears with a Johnny Stewart Variable Pitch call (the one with the little rubber button that lets you vary the pressure on the metal reed). They came in running as long as I was blowing the call. I shot one at about 10 yards. I also had one come into a cow call (diaphragm) while I was elk hunting.
We will be flying in for 9 days.Anybody flying into the Frank? If so, I would enjoy a trip report. Others can add trip reports also but the Frank is high adventure.
